If you’ve been looking forward to watching The Code TV show on CBS this Monday night, you’re going to be disappointed. The network has pulled the drama series from the schedule. Will it back? Has it been cancelled?
A military legal drama, The Code stars Luke Mitchell, Anna Wood, Ato Essandoh, Phillipa Soo, Dana Delany, and Raffi Barsoumian. The story unfolds at the Judge Advocate General Headquarters in Quantico, Virginia and centers on the prosecutors, defense lawyers, and investigators who work on the legal challenges facing the U.S. Marine Corps.
The first season of The Code debuted in April drew pretty low ratings, right from the start. The eight aired episodes have averaged a 0.57 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 5.10 million viewers in the live + same day ratings. It’s one of CBS’ lowest-rated scripted shows of the 2018-19 season.
The Code has been pulled from the schedule and will, for the immediate future, be replaced by reruns of Magnum PI. Right now, the plan is for The Code to return on Monday, July 1st, but those plans could change.
While The Code hasn’t been officially cancelled yet, CBS pulling the series from the schedule certainly points in that direction. Some of the series’ small audience will get out of the habit of watching the program and the first week in July is traditionally one of the lowest-watched weeks of television. The ratings for the next episode will be much lower than they have been.
If there was any hope of The Code surviving to see a second season, I think this move makes it clear that CBS has given up on the series.
What do you think? Do you like The Code TV show? Do you think it will be cancelled? Would you watch season two?
I like the Code. It’s taken a while to develop the characters but I am interested now. I could do without Dana Delaney but the rest are good.
Please do not cancel this show!!!
We LOVE The Code!!! PLEASE do not cancel it!!!
I love The Code. I hope it comes back.
If CBS insists in pulling every really “good” show after a few episodes, the least they can do is put the entire season on CBS All Access so the fans of The Code can at least finish watching the season.
The Code is an excellent series and one of the very few that I watch every week. I have missed it since it was pulled following episode 8 and generally do NOT watch anything in its place. Reruns that I have already seen are of no interest to me. Especially, reruns of the current version of Magnum P.I. Nor do I want to watch reruns of FBI
I love the Code and would like to see a second season.
Me too. But first I would love to see the 7 episodes that have yet to air of Season 1
I love the code. Bring it back n
We really enjoyed the show. The episodes were well written and captivating. Too bad more people did not enjoy it. It is good TV.
The Code is a very well written and entertaining series. I am highly disappointed with CBS pulling this program. There is so much garbage on TV now days would be nice if they would leave one show for people with a mind.
I have really enjoyed The Code. Hate to see it cancelled. It is much better than most of the silly comedies that are on TV now.
CBS you constantly cancel good shows … The Code was just a good good show regarding the military. Like JAG an entertaining series. And some of the dumbest shows you keep on. You should have NEVER cancelled Code Black, the actors, high passed energy of a code black revealing what magnificent efforts of the medical staff. Now cancelling The Code that reveals our Military Courts & our wonderful men & woman who serve. I find CBS a very strange network
For some idiotic reason CBS ignores a large portion of their audience and often cancels the best shows because we don’t fit in the advertiser’s preferred demographic. Don’t the idiots know other people have and spend money too?
I have just about stopped watching TV at all due to the fact that most of what they show is TRASH. Please NO MORE Reality TV, no more stupid sitcoms. Give us something with some intelligence.
I’ve about had it with CBS. We really like the code and to pull the shows no consideration for their viewers in the middle of the season. We at
We are now very hesitant to watch anything this network does if this is what we’ll be subjected too!
I agree. This how is great and for all those young people wanting to go into the military as a JAG, what better way to show how our military actually works. Young lawyers experiencing the best and worst of the military. one of the few shows that has real life importance to it, and to keep “Madam Secretary” on still with no watchers other than the Clinton followers, this show does not make sense because a Sec of State does not get involved with all this and does now overrule the president. Keep this show on. It’s the only good… Read more »
Can’t believe it has been pulled. So much better than so much of the garbage that is on. Hope it does return in July. Definitely will watch.
I like the Code!!! Give it another chance!!
