NBC isn’t staying friends with The Enemy Within. The network has cancelled the freshman drama series so there won’t be a second season coming for 2019-20.
A psychological thriller, The Enemy Within stars Jennifer Carpenter, Morris Chestnut, Raza Jaffrey, Kelli Garner, Cassandra Freeman, and Noah Mills. The character-based drama centers on former CIA operative and now infamous traitor Erica Shepherd (Carpenter) and FBI Agent Will Keaton (Chestnut). In order to apprehend a looming threat, Keaton must tap Shepherd’s expertise, even though she’s serving a life sentence in a supermax prison.
The first season of The Enemy Within averaged a 0.74 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.40 million viewers. The defacto series finale aired on May 20th.
Compared to the other scripted NBC TV shows of the 2018-19 season, the series ranks 10th in the demo and seventh in total viewers. Based on the rankings, it would seem like the series would be renewed but the ratings trended downward as the season progressed. Considering that The Enemy Within had The Voice as a lead-in, NBC execs were likely not satisfied with the show’s low retention rate either.
Today, the Peacock Network also cancelled The Village and Abby’s TV shows.

I am extremely disappointed. It was the only program I looked forward to watching. Loved it. Hope another network takes it. There’s so much garbage on TV. This show was so exciting.

Unbelievable! Why cancel such a great show? Enemy Within kept you guessing and on the edge of your seat. I hate it’s not coming back for Season 2, however NBC has a habit of canceling most of the good ones….no surprise there. Makes my family sad; hopefully another network will pick it up..
More good shows cancelled soon only reality shows will be on TV disappointed iam in vacations on portugal the TV here is awesome nothing great is coming this fall only some series fom last here

Big mistake , this was one of the best shows in years , I agree with many others that reality TV is garbage , that’s why I don’t watch much tv, but this show caught my attention and held it ,firmly. I actually liked it better than Manifest, which I won’t be watching this season….
This was a great show. I cannot believe it was cancelled. All anyone wants to see are these trash reality shows anymore. What a shame!

I really enjoyed The Enemy Within. Extremely disappointed that is was cancelled. Hopefully Netflix or Amazon will pick it up. Networks dont have many shows worth watching
It seems like every show with real potential gets bumped before people get a chance to see it. A lot of people would have been likely to watch it as reruns in the summer and pick it up in the fall. It’s no wonder the networks continue to loose viewers to cable.
The show was very good but ,unrealistic given the size of Erica Shepard and her ability to take down huge highly trained assassins.
It was the closest show I’ve seen to “24” in years.Sorry it wasn’t renewed.
