If you need proof that The Firm is doomed to be cancelled by NBC, you just have to look at the show’s ratings. Not only did the new legal series bomb on Thursday nights but it’s currently being trounced on Saturday nights as well — airing opposite CSI: New York repeats, 20/20, and FOX’s forgotten Q’Viva! The Chosen reality series.
The ratings for The Firm have been so poor that one had to start wondering if NBC might bump the series off the Saturday schedule as well. Well, that’s what they’re doing — at least for one week.
This week’s episode of The Firm has been replaced by a rerun of the 90-minute premiere of Fashion Star (which debuts tonight). That will be followed by an encore of the first episode of Betty White’s Off Their Rockers, which first aired in January. Rockers returns to the NBC schedule on April 4th.
On March 24th, NBC has slotted an episode of the USA Network series Fairly Legal at 8pm, a slot that had been filled by reruns of Smash. The network hasn’t announced which episode of Fairly Legal will air but the season two opener (which will run this Friday on USA) seems likely.
The network is shaking up their Saturday night schedule and if they can come up with better numbers than what The Firm has been getting, the legal drama could easily be off the schedule for good. NBC has aired just 10 of the show’s 22 episodes thus far.
What do you think? Are you still watching NBC’s The Firm? Do you watch the episodes on Saturday nights, on demand or online? Would you be upset if NBC pulled it for good?

This is a terrific show and I look forward to watching it every week. The central story arc is compelling and the cast is very talented. I also find the “case of the week” to be an interesting part of each episode. This show actually works on two levels: it has a continuous story line to entice and reward the loyal viewer and also has the individual cases that begin and end each week that allow these to work as stand-alone episodes. The quality of John Grisham’s storytelling can definitely be seen in this show. It would be a shame… Read more »
It seems that any show with intelligence or that needs a little work is dropped immediately and stupid insulting canned laughs at farts and burps goes on forever. Why must we always make money and bow to the lowest denominator? and anything edgy or different goes by the wayside- journeyman, heroes, endgame, life, desden files…
I have enjoyed this show from the moment it began. It keeps the viewer in suspense for the next episode. It will be a true shame if the network dumps it. It seems every Network gets rid of the really good shows in favor of just plain crap.
PLEASE don’t cancel The FIRM. Simple as that!!!!
I absolutely love this show! The story line is great and the acting is even better. Im not sure who doesnt like it but they have no idea whats good if they think this show isnt good. Please dont take it off the air.
I absolutely LOVE the show. Love the story line and the actots are all great! I cant believe the ratings are bad. Please keep it!
The Firm has been the first legal show that ‘hooked me’ from the very beginning! It’s so disappointing to know that it has or will be cancelled. I’ve watched every episode aired. The storyline is great and keeps one engaged. Great actors as well. NBC… Hope it finishes airing all possible episodes. 🙁
I luv the firm. I normally watch it on demand except the pilot espiode and today. But I was disappointed that it wasn’t on, hence, I googled the timeslot and found this. My comcast box is only SD only so I was actually looking foward to watching it live in HD. Anyway, I like the plot, it keeps me wondering what’s next. The time shift at first was confusing but I actually like it that it’s unique. It’s no longer confusing. I knew it would for sure get cancelled but I am still watching it. Because I know 99% of… Read more »
I like this show. It is well done. My main problem is the women casted. The wife is snobby and annoying. Of course whats her name is washed up and can only do one character. But even with these obvious flaws its a very good show. It doesnt surprise me they want to cancel it. Not many good shows last anymore.
I like the series. Please continue
Great show, please let us finish the series.
It figures. Any time I find a program that makes you think, it gets replaced by more stinking reality TV. . . .
The Firm is a GREAT show! We have watched it from the beginning and have not missed an episode. This has not been easy due to NBCs constant time slot changes. How are fans supposed to get behind a show when no one knows when it is going to air?! The casting in this show is fantastic. The plot lines are exciting and unexpected. Don’t cancel this show! Give it a solid chance!
The problem with these types of shows are that most people don’t want to and don’t like to think. Anything that has shifting timelines, more than one thing going on at a time, and takes more than 2 neurons to watch, people will not get into it…This has happened to several shows that I enjoyed and I still wonder how dumb ass shows like Chuck, 2 1/2 men, etc. get shown for years…I think I’m about to give up on television, it’s all about reality shows and nonsense now.
Typical network thinking. Most companies put more marketing into a product they know is good but whose sales are sluggish. Since the early promo’s, “The Firm” has been ignored instead of promoted. There ARE television watchers who enjoy a well made show instead of all the “reality” garbage. Now those are nothing but cheap crap. Get rid of the reality stinkers and keep the good shows!
