Though ABC didn’t have much luck with their Eastwick drama, the network is trying another kind of supernatural series, The Gates, for the summer months. Will this one make it to season two?
The Gates revolves around a big city cop who moves his family to a quiet gated community where many of the residents aren’t exactly what they appear to be. The ensemble cast includes Rhona Mitra, Colton Haynes, Frank Grillo, Janina Gavankar, Chandra West, Luke Mably, James Preston, Marisol Nichols, Skyler Samuels, Travis Caldwell, Victoria Platt, and Justin Miles.
The series debuted on Sunday, June 20th, to an unimpressive 1.5 rating in the 18-49 demographic and just 4.78 million viewers. Considering all of the network’s promotion, this was a disappointing start. The premiere ranked first in the demo and second in total viewers for the timeslot.

In week two, viewership for The Gates dropped by about 30%. The demo fell to a 1.1 rating and total viewership came down to only 3.24 million. That put the show in second place in the demo and in third place for viewers.
Though ABC has lower expectations for this summer show, the ratings do not bode well for the show’s future on the network. Unless more people start watching, it’s hard to imagine that we’ll be seeing season two.
For now, let’s hope they show all 13 episodes of season one. The Gates is expected to run until September 19th but, with ratings like these, it’s not hard to imagine the network replacing them with something else.

Здравствуйте, сериал Врата просто отличный,интересней я не видела,пожалуйста,верните его!!!! Очень хочется второй сезон,а то первый как-то совсем оборвали на полуслове…..
The Gates is definitely worth watching. I hope you will give it a second chance. If it doesn’t improve its rating, then and only then should yu cnacel it.

PLEASE bring this show back!!!!! It was done realy well and I loved it! Maybe ratings on shpws likle these are not the greatest because every time a good show like The Gates gets put on TV it never lasts more then a few seasons if it mkes it past the first. So people who do LOVEthis kind of show dont bother getting too involved right away. I bet if it came back on the viewing would go up!!!!

, they freaking have to cancel the show. Will think twice before I’m hooked to another ABC show. At least when the other net work’s shows tanked, it was because it really sucks. ABC juz needs better management.
The Gates was the only show worth watching on Sunday nites.
I thought it had all the great makings of a super natural show with sexy main characters . The final episode had me out of my seat wanting and needing more. Your crazy to discard this series because if your a real vampire and super natural fan thin show had it all and then some . You might try asking real fans what they might like rather than the corporates in the studio.

This is ridiculous! We practically planned our lives around that show this summer. My girls keep asking when it’s going to come back on. Do they count the viewers online? We don’t have a television so must watch online, maybe others are, too. PLEASE do more episodes. Truly, it is awesome!

Please, Please, Please, Please do not cancel the gates. I love that show and i look forward to watching it every time it comes on. You cant leave the ending like that, with the son all robotic and dead. Please bring it back.
