This season, FOX tried breaking up their Sunday night block of animation programming with live-action sitcoms with mixed success. Mulaney was cancelled due to low ratings while Brooklyn Nine-Nine has done well enough to be renewed for a third season. What will happen with The Last Man on Earth? A hit or a flop? Cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
A single-camera comedy, The Last Man on Earth follows the life and adventures of an average guy from 2020. After a deadly virus has swept the planet, Phil Miller (Will Forte) is all alone. He used to be just an average guy who loved his family and hated his job — now he’s humanity’s last hope. Is he truly alone?
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — typically the following morning, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
4/8 update: FOX has renewed this series for a second season. Details here.
5/4 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view it here.
Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like The Last Man on Earth TV show? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
i think it’s dope
awful show, with awful cast. the idea sounds good, but the execution is awful. Will Forte is one of the worst SNL rejects to show its face on tv. just canceled it and move to the next show. hopefully it would be good, and make me want to watch it.
I’ve noticed a pattern with this show: We see a lot of footage of Phil destroying things. I get bored of this quickly and wonder when they’re going to stop going back to that. I am just about ready to give up on the show when in the last moment… a person shows up and I decide to see what happens next. I’m not sure how many more episodes can have those last-minute saves. I’m bone-weary of seeing him destroy things. It was tiresome after the first ten minutes of the first episode.
I agree with Arthur Fehrenbach! Most of you people are the reason shows get canceled so fast.. Stop watching tv and drowning the ratings if nothing is ever going to satisfy you, maybe then shows would stick around longer than a season. I would much rather have a show where the character faced with being the last guy on earth acted like this guy does and not make it out to be some dramatic piece of crap. Its definitely better than having another cop show.. Everyone whines that hollywood never has any new ideas, well its because when they do… Read more »
But…if we all stop watching television shows will get cancelled faster than they are now.
I’ll be honest, I was hyped to see this show. It looked amazing with an amazing story.
it didn’t live up to the hype. It’s dull with grating characters and a rapidly failing premise.
I got about 15 minutes into the show. I had it recorded in my DVR. I started FF through it. Horrible show. The networks must have gotten together and decided to produce an assortment of terrible shows for the remainder of the winter.
I also had it recorded on my DVR and watched about 15 minutes and I couldn’t stomach it. I agree….what a horrible show. They leave all the stupid comedies on but cancel great comedies like “Benched” on USA. That was a great show.
I want my hour back.
How could a billion dollar television company come up with such a wasteful show?
the powers that be, pumped up this show to be a blimp and it turned out to be a balloon at a birthday party for toddlers.
This was terrible. Bad plot. Bad acting. Although I do think that’s what would happen to the main character as far as getting depressed.
For those that don’t like this show… Eh, its FOX, and terrible does very well on FOX, so…
OK, I know it’s a comedy, and I’m really really trying to stomp on my scientificky mind, but…bodies, cadavers, smells, and … animals (did they virus get them, too)? And since he went to all the trouble to drip-irrigate the Garden With the Miraculous Tomaahtow Plants, why not water for the house? Yes, I watched the whole thing, hoping for a glimmer of hope and never saw any. The Walking Dead has more humorous moments than this does – Ouch. (Sunday’s “We brought dinner” was a classic line)
Hated the show. I would have liked it if not for Carol. Hated that character. Just way too annoying….and not in a funny way
Downright horrible in more ways than one. Really hope it won’t last that long.
this was painful to watch from the start to end this show should go
Even if I were the ”last man on earth” and could get a TV signal . . . . I would have turned this ridiculous show off in the first 10 minutes – comedy or not. The main character lives more like a teenaged neanderthol than a mature, 40-something adult with any common sense logic. If a virus killed every human being and living creature, then what happens to the corpses? Did they all evaporate as well? Did he bother to find a shortwave radio to connect up to his generator and attempt to contact other nations? So . .… Read more »
MARK!!!! LOL… you’re review was way funnier than the show. And to Arthur Fehrenbach… W.T.F.? Your life must suck.
Sorry, just saw my typo… meant to say “your” & not ” you’re”.
I think it is very good entertainment and will continue to watch it.
Didn’t even realize this show was showing. Guess I don’t watch much on Fox to see their promos. But if he is ‘all alone’, how can he be ‘humanity’s last hope’. Does he clone himself, bud or procreate using some other form of asexual reproduction?
