TV show description:
This comedy series follows an irresponsible grifter who ends up becoming the guardian of her young and wealthy niece and nephews.
Mackenzie “Mickey” Murphy (Kaitlin Olson) is a brash, two-bit hustler from Rhode Island who lacks any drive and is always in search of the next easy payday. She’s spent her entire life running from any kind of responsibility but she’s also smart and fun. She always has her head in the game. She just needs a big win.
Looking for a handout, Mickey visits her estranged sister and billionaire brother-in-law in Greenwich, Connecticut. Mickey gets more than she bargained for when her absurdly rich relatives flee the country to escape federal fraud charges.
This leaves Mickey to assume guardianship of their three high-maintenance and ill-parented children. Sabrina (Sofia Black D’Elia) is an ambitious, mature-beyond-her-years 18-year-old who’s a worthy adversary for Mickey. Chip (Thomas Barbusca) is 13 years old and is an entitled con-in-the-making with the arrogance to carry it off. Meanwhile, Ben (Jack Stanton) is a seven-year-old and an adorably fragile nerd.
The life and material possessions that Mickey has longed for are now within her reach — but nothing in life is free. She needs to transform these outrageously spoiled children into honest, hard-working, decent members of society – something that Mickey knows nothing about.
Being a mother was never part of Mickey’s game plan, but these kids desperately need a parent. And as irresponsible as Mickey has been her entire life, she may discover that responsibility and motherhood aren’t the buzzkill she always thought they would be.
Episode #37, “The Graduate”
Following graduation, Mickey and Alba (Carla Jimenez) discover that Sabrina is having second thoughts about attending Yale. In their attempt to sway her decision, Alba finds herself heavily involved at a Yale Alumni reunion event. Meanwhile, Chip is keen on re-branding himself before he starts high school, so naturally he decides to throw a party to prove his status. (Courtesy of FOX)
First aired: April 3, 2018
What do you think? Did you like The Mick TV show? Should it have been cancelled or renewed for season three on FOX?
This show needs to be cancelled. It is beyond offensive. Child pedophilia should be normalized and that is exactly what they are doing. FOX shame on you for keeping this show on the air in a time when sex trafficking and child porn are at an all time high. I will make sure that this show comes off the air. So disgusted that you would promote child pedophilia.
there are other channels…..
I absolutely love this show. Yes, it’s offensive but it’s also inclusive. Mickey doesn’t have the best moral compass but it shows how issues are not black and white. She corrects her nephew when he speaks ill of women and steps up when it seems her other nephew is being discriminated against because he’s transgender.
If you think it’s morally offensive, don’t watch. It’s often those that cry for morals are the most judgemental and hateful in society.
We love this show and it epitomizes intellectual humour on every level-the serious messages are depicted in the humour: not just surface mindless entertainment, meaning we all want to be accepted; read between the lines there are messages that are not intended to insult the audience; but make us aware of the issues that we all face. It is exaggerated to get our attention. This is not intended to be mindless nor is it a documentary on moral conduct. It is to raise awareness-self awareness, global awareness. I commend Kaitlin and fellow actors. The irresponsible so called “rebel aunt” is… Read more »
This show, and its viewers, is both cause and effect of the devolution of our culture. Please cancel the trash and make a wholesome contribution to the viewing environment.
I urge you to cancel it. Our county is a mess because of irresponsible actions. We don’t need to teach young kids that it’s cool to be irresponsible anymore. It’s not funny to use children to promote any sexual perversity. It’s horrible. Please use the money to creatively find a way to make being wholesome, respectful to elders and being responsible, cool again. We want to these to be the character of these upcoming kids who will be in charge of our nursing homes one day.
I enjoy a great deal of the moments, especially the ones where they seem to really relax into the roles. However, the writing sometimes leaves me feeling dumbfounded or completely WTF moments. It’s one thing to get into some hair-brained schemes but some of these are completely off the wall and actually make me a little uncomfortable which takes away from the comedy elements. They need to focus more on her trying to connect with the kids and that going array. The first episode or so did that and now they moved outside that realm without really establishing any firm… Read more »
I’d cancel it. There’s so much better stuff to watch. Invest you money in a better show.
I love the Mick. It’s hilarious. Please renew the series.
I agree with previous commenters. This program stoops to unbelievable lows. What viewership is this supposed to appeal to? Its not even funny, by any stretch. Just sick. It’ll get cancelled.
you know somethings are not for everyone thats why you have the right to change the channel and just don’t watch it..
Disgusting show. Absolutely deplorable.
The 6 year old transgender boy in bondage gag on this show is a sick joke and sad. I will not watch Fox until they cancel and apologize, I urge others to do the same.
Awful. CANCEL NOW
This show is awful, time slot awful, young children should not see any of the offensive, insulting, abusive action and language in this so called “comedy”???? CANCEL NOW!!!!
Then monitor what your children are watching. Not everything is for kids.
One of the most offensive TV shows I’ve seen. Grandparents viciously slapping children—which is abuse– drugging the maid –this would send you to jail in most areas–and making fun of a child who drools because of a mouth contraption (don’t know the story behind it) is horrific. No matter how you try to spin it, this is pure crap. I will never watch this show again. I voted with my finger by hitting the off button.
