TV show description:
This comedy series follows an irresponsible grifter who ends up becoming the guardian of her young and wealthy niece and nephews.
Mackenzie “Mickey” Murphy (Kaitlin Olson) is a brash, two-bit hustler from Rhode Island who lacks any drive and is always in search of the next easy payday. She’s spent her entire life running from any kind of responsibility but she’s also smart and fun. She always has her head in the game. She just needs a big win.
Looking for a handout, Mickey visits her estranged sister and billionaire brother-in-law in Greenwich, Connecticut. Mickey gets more than she bargained for when her absurdly rich relatives flee the country to escape federal fraud charges.
This leaves Mickey to assume guardianship of their three high-maintenance and ill-parented children. Sabrina (Sofia Black D’Elia) is an ambitious, mature-beyond-her-years 18-year-old who’s a worthy adversary for Mickey. Chip (Thomas Barbusca) is 13 years old and is an entitled con-in-the-making with the arrogance to carry it off. Meanwhile, Ben (Jack Stanton) is a seven-year-old and an adorably fragile nerd.
The life and material possessions that Mickey has longed for are now within her reach — but nothing in life is free. She needs to transform these outrageously spoiled children into honest, hard-working, decent members of society – something that Mickey knows nothing about.
Being a mother was never part of Mickey’s game plan, but these kids desperately need a parent. And as irresponsible as Mickey has been her entire life, she may discover that responsibility and motherhood aren’t the buzzkill she always thought they would be.
Episode #37, “The Graduate”
Following graduation, Mickey and Alba (Carla Jimenez) discover that Sabrina is having second thoughts about attending Yale. In their attempt to sway her decision, Alba finds herself heavily involved at a Yale Alumni reunion event. Meanwhile, Chip is keen on re-branding himself before he starts high school, so naturally he decides to throw a party to prove his status. (Courtesy of FOX)
