Nathan Fillion isn’t taking his badge off anytime soon. ABC just announced they’ve ordered a third season of The Rookie for the 2020-21 broadcast season.
The comedy-drama stars Fillion as a small-town guy who, after a life-changing experience, decides to pursue his dream of being an LAPD officer. Now he’s the oldest rookie on the force, and the brass thinks he’s just having a midlife crisis. The cast also includes Alyssa Diaz, Richard T. Jones, Titus Makin, Mercedes Mason, Melissa O’Neil, Afton Williamson, and Eric Winter.
The second season of The Rookie averaged a 0.64 rating in the 18-49 demo and 4.32 million viewers. Compared to season one, that’s a 12% decrease in the demo and a 4% increase in overall viewership. Compared to other ABC scripted series, The Rookie has been a middle-of-the-road performer.

I like the Rookie, good show
The Rookie is a great show. Since the 1st season I’ve been watching the show expand in drama and character building. Overall i truly enjoy and love the story and dedication of everyone involved with the show. I can’t wait for the 3rd season

Most curious about the season 3 television scripts….will they be just character driven?…..or intense and unusual thematic material…..marvelous story-telling remains in one’s mind,
long after and episode has ended….tending to viewing satisfaction…..kudos to The Rookie writers……..imagination
My huaband (a retired Fort Lauderdale Florida police captain) and I are SO happy that The Rookie got renewed for another season. We watch it every week.

I will watch every it weekly and download when I am away as this is the best program abc as ever put on the air. i was afraid that theywere going to cancel it as it is what they do when a program is good
The Rookie is my favorite TV series! Just bought season 1 and plan on getting season 2. So excited there will be a season 3. I have told my family and friends about some of the episodes, and now they are watching it too! Nathan Fillion is the reason I gave this TV series a try. I really hope this series will have many more seasons.
