TNT has had both great successes and big disappointments when it comes to their original scripted shows. Which of the current crop will be cancelled or renewed for another season? Stay tuned!
Scripted TNT shows listed: Agent X, The Alienist, Animal Kingdom, Claws, Dallas, Falling Skies, Franklin & Bash, Good Behavior, I Am the Night, The Last Ship, The Lazarus Project, Legends, The Librarians, Major Crimes, Murder in the First, Perception, Proof, Public Morals, Rizzoli & Isles, Snowpiercer, Transporter: The Series, and Will.
Last updated: Most recent ratings added for The Lazarus Project.
There’s lots of data that TNT execs look at when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series but ratings are the major ingredient. Here’s an updated listing of all of their recent/current primetime scripted shows.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated charts, please try reloading the page. You can also view them here and here.
A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released (usually a day or so after the broadcasts). The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.
The demo numbers, which are typically most important to the broadcast networks, aren’t quite as vital to cable channels because their audiences are usually much smaller. Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking.
What do you think? Are you surprised by any of the ratings? Which shows should be doing better? Which one do you think will be cancelled next?
Um is that right for major crimes, everything on the net says they are renewed for season 5 for 15 episodes.
The chart is wrong. The shows creator, James Duff announced it today!
One would hope it is a major typo, and they correct the mistake on the chart.
Yes, it was a typo. Sorry about that. The series was renewed for a fifth season though as far as I know, there’s no official word on a number of episodes yet.
i think tnt takes the cake for all the shows they crushed. crushed shows, crushed people who followed a story and spent so much time telling tnt that you should have given it a chance. e.g. Proof. TNT YOU ALWAYS WERE FIRST IN LINE FOR ME. I CANNOT TELL YOU HOW I FEEL O I HOPE YOU PUT ALL THE COMMENTS THAT WERE POSTED ON YOU TUBE TO GET PROOF, AND ALOT OF OTHER GOOD REALLY GOOD SHOWS AND A YEAR IS NOT ENOUGH TIME TO LET PEOPLE CATCH ON. PEOPLE GIVE MARRIAGES MORE THAN 1 Y EAR.
Thank you for this opportunity. I watch the show Legends every week. I’m impressed with Sean Bean’s ability to switch accents and personas. I hope there’s a season 3.
Just started watching Legends on Netflix and loved it. Hope they dont cancel it.
Legends is a GREAT show! The network put it on opposite another hot show, Fargo, already on and in mid season. It’s poor placement. If this show were on any other night, such as Tuesday, I’m sure the ratings would skyrocket.
Booooo if it is being cancelled.
I agree that if Legends were placed in another time spot, it would skyrocket. It doesn’t give a show a fair shot of making it if it’s placed up against another show which thrives well. Thank you for allowing me to post.
TNT has cancelled some of their best sjows, sometimes to replace it with a show that was crap starting with the first episode! I think they don’t give some shows a chance to find its audience, while they throw constant commercials about shows that need absolutely no help! It makes me not want to invest in new shows, for fear by the time I give it my full attention it is gone. I think the ones in charge oof those decisions are either too young, too inexperienced or just plain idiots.
I totally agree with this statement. Maybe if these executives gave the shows more than one or two months per season, the shows may gain viewers. I think that the channels such as TNT, that many older viewers turned to ,to see quality shows that didn’t pander to the young, are no longer the stations to go to.
Sooo, is Murder in the First coming back or what?
Bring back Dallas and I will start watching shows on this crappy network again!
Proof shouldn’t have been canceled. Great show
We love the show the transporter, and are eagerly awaiting it’s return. We never had heard of it until we saw a marathon of them
Perhaps it would be more popular if they had advertised it , especially after the success of the movies
I also loved caught on Netflix b glad for its return.
This in reply of Rita’s comment on 10/23/15. The same goes for TRANSPORTER: The Series. TNT and their Exec. don’t care about the other age groups. Bring back Transporter for the third season +.Frank ,Cara and the mechanic make the show.
I am appalled to see ratings for shows are based on 18 – 49. REALLY!!! What about the rest of us! How can any company run like that? So many great shows have been canceled because they don’t fit into that age bracket. Do any of the many comments I’ve read about PROOF make any difference??? How much money do these top executives cause their business constantly changing shows instead of letting it grow…or does it need to? Try broadening your age group and see what new results you would get. How do you think PROOF would do this year… Read more »
BEST new show to come along in years. LOVE the musical interludes and transitions (“Who’s Sorry Now?” was brilliant ! ) SHADY, slick, and trashy . . . a straight-up winner in my playbook! BRING on Season 2 !!!!!
Here’s to hoping a smarter network picks up Proof – though I have no actual faith in the decision-making of any of them.
Then again….yet another reason to cancel my DirecTV and switch fully to Netflix and Hulu! There’s massive variety plus programs which are both intelligent and entertaining.
I’m also rather pleased to not be considered at all “edgy” – count on TV execs to attempt to make “temperamental” into some sort of compliment!!
TNT – You cancelled Dallas for these new edgy shows and they are all failures in the ratings….You lost millions and millions of viewers and your paying for it now.
