Tommy won’t be back on patrol next season. CBS just announced that the network has cancelled the cop drama and won’t be ordering a second season for the 2020-21 broadcast season.
The Tommy series revolves around a former high-ranking NYPD officer who becomes the first female chief of police for Los Angeles. Abigail “Tommy” Thomas (Edie Falco) uses unflinching honesty and hardball tactics to keep social, political, and national security issues from hindering effective law enforcement in the Southland. The CBS drama also stars Michael Chernus, Adelaide Clemens, Thomas Sadoski, Russell G. Jones, Olivia Lucy Phillip, Joseph Lyle Taylor, and Vladimir Caamaño.
Airing on Thursday nights, the first season of Tommy averages a 0.49 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.85 million viewers. The cancellation doesn’t come as much of a surprise as the drama is the network’s lowest-rated scripted series.
The 12th and final installment of Tommy airs tomorrow night.
What do you think? Do you watch Tommy? Would you have watched season two on CBS?
Very upset that Tommy is not being picked up for a second season. I Hope it gets picked up by another network. Love this show and the cast.
Yikes – the only new show I watched regularly. Bye by CBS!!!!
Love this show. Not happy it is not being picked up for another season. I hope someone else picks it up. Love the whole cast of this show.
This sucks. It was a really great show. Different from the other cop shows. I know networks are about ratings but it’s disappointing to see quality shows go away to make room for fluff that may get higher ratings. Quality over quantity should matter. I guess I’ll be watching more Amazon Prime or Netflix. The actors did a bang up job on the show. They will all be missed. Networks make it difficult for a viewer to watch new shows because we get invested and then you pull out the rug. It’s weary and why I tend to stay with… Read more »
We didn’t care for Tommy at first but it grew on us. My wife and I will miss it. I guess we’ll be watching more PRIME.
Wow This was a great show and I was looking forward to Season 2 …..I’ll look to another network now for something similar that will
Be on the air more than one season …..very disappointed
This was a great show and getting better each week. CBS is dropping what could be a long running hit. I hope someone else like Netflix picks it up. I am getting close to the point where there will be no reason to continue watching any network series. Netflix is so much better and no commercials.
Tommy is a great show. Cancelling is a crime in itself. I’m very disappointed!
Would really like to see a 2nd season!
Tommy was an excellent show!! Why do these networks tease viewers with a good show then cancel. They do not give a second season and no reasonable excuse as to why cancel but they still leave other garbage on!!!
What a shame it was cancelled. It never had a real chance since it aired opposite the Law and Order hit SVU. I would watch Tommy and DVR SVU to watch later. It should have been aired on a different night. Hopefully it will be picked up by another venue.
CBS is nuts to cancel Tommy, an excellent show deáling with current issues. Reconsider!
Was a great show that my wife and I watched. It had a strong female lead in Edie Falco — unusual for a cop drama. Seems like a sexist move, CBS.
BIG mistake. This is a great show!
I am hooked on Tommy and now CBS, my dealer, is going to cut me off cold-turkey. I hope someone else will pick it up. I think Edie Falco and the whole cast are great! C’mon, CBS, bring it back.
No way! CBS is making a mistake!
