Tommy won’t be back on patrol next season. CBS just announced that the network has cancelled the cop drama and won’t be ordering a second season for the 2020-21 broadcast season.
The Tommy series revolves around a former high-ranking NYPD officer who becomes the first female chief of police for Los Angeles. Abigail “Tommy” Thomas (Edie Falco) uses unflinching honesty and hardball tactics to keep social, political, and national security issues from hindering effective law enforcement in the Southland. The CBS drama also stars Michael Chernus, Adelaide Clemens, Thomas Sadoski, Russell G. Jones, Olivia Lucy Phillip, Joseph Lyle Taylor, and Vladimir Caamaño.
Airing on Thursday nights, the first season of Tommy averages a 0.49 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.85 million viewers. The cancellation doesn’t come as much of a surprise as the drama is the network’s lowest-rated scripted series.
The 12th and final installment of Tommy airs tomorrow night.
What do you think? Do you watch Tommy? Would you have watched season two on CBS?
REMEMBER CBS CANCELLED NCIS 1ST SEASON AND WHAT HAPPENED THERE ?????
BIG HIT .
I LIKED “TOMMY” FOR ITS STRAITFORWARD AND HONEST CONTENT . ANYTHING WITH EDIE FALCO ?? GUARANTEED HIT!
I Love the show an am so disappointed it has been cancelled. I really wish CBS would reconsider and put it in a different time slot. They put it in a time slot opposite NBC’s SVU, come on, not fair. There are way too many loyal fans watching SVU. I just don’t understand, there are so many crappy shows on the air but Tommy was cancelled. Please, please bring it back and put it in a different time slot!!!!
Tommy was a fabulous show which both my husband and I loved! That in itself is a rarity. Please someone pick it up!!!
I can’t believe CBS is going to cancel another great show after 1 season. I don’t think I’m going to start watching any of their new shows. What point is there? They never renew the good ones. If any of the other networks are smart, they will pick it up. Very disappointed.
I just finished watching the finale. CBS please don’t cancel this show. Maybe Netflix or Hulu will pick it up. Such great potential in the show
I loved her show and I like the fact that they are showing a strong professional gay woman in charge. She plays the part with kindness, strength and common sense. DO NOT CANCEL!!!
This is a great show! Give it another season
Give it a chance ,it was a great show better then some of these shows you ha e give it 1 more chance. Love Edie was great on thos show .
Loved Tommy. Sad it will no be back. One of the better shows this year. Would love for another network to pick it up.

Boo
Terrific show
2nd season would have been interesting
I was saddened to hear that this show has been cancelled. I really enjoyed it and you left us hanging as if there might be a second season. Please reconsider your decision.
Tommy is a good show and should NOT be cancelled
This is typical of CBS. They often debut outstanding shows with seasoned professionals only to shoot them down before they have a chance to succeed. It was introduced mid-season with a so-so time slot. If it had been part of a September line up it could have been a different story. But the bottom line is that it was cancelled based on $ and not on popularity or critical acclaim. It is a shame that something like this is not given a full shot to become sucessful. The cast was outstanding. The story lines were always captivating . I will… Read more »
They seem to leave these stupid games on TV and take the good drama shows off. Like Game On that is coming on CBS the end of May. They should take that off before it starts. It won’t last and looks really dumb. They should put Tommy back on the fall schedule and give it a season 2 at least and see how it does. They don’t give the shows a chance anymore. they only made 12 episodes not even a full season. Give it a chance.
I so agree with you. I’m not interested in silly game shows. Edie Falco was outstanding in her role
