Training Day TV show star, Bill Paxton, passed away on February 25th, at just 61 years of age, due to complications following surgery. Since his new CBS cop drama is only four episodes into its 13 episode first season, fans have asked how the loss of this accomplished actor will affect the first season, and if CBS will cancel or renew Training Day for season two.
Picking up years after the movie, Training Day follows Detective Frank Rourke (Paxton). He’s the maverick head of a special unit that hunts the city’s most dangerous criminals. LAPD brass assigns heroic Kyle Craig (Justin Cornwell) to pose as Frank’s trainee. Kyle is to spy on Frank and report on his off-book methods. The rest of the CBS cast includes Katrina Law, Drew Van Acker, Lex Scott Davis, Julie Benz, Christina Vidal, and Marianne Jean-Baptiste.
Will Training Day Season One Continue? Will this TV Show Be Cancelled or Renewed for a Season Two on CBS?
The first season of Training Day is currently averaging a 0.77 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 4.165 million viewers. Compared to other CBS TV shows, the cop drama currently ranks 22nd out of the 25 scripted Tiffany Network TV shows we’re tracking. Even if we hadn’t lost the talented Mr. Paxton far too soon, CBS was unlikely to renew Training Day for season two.
There is one bright spot for fans. Deadline reports that season one production wrapped in December, which means all 13 episodes from the show’s first-season have already been shot. There are still nine new Training Day episodes, starring Paxton, to come on CBS.
What do you think? Are you a fan of the Training Day TV show? Will you keep watching it, without Paxton? Should CBS cancel or renew Training Day for season two? Let us know, below.
Yes I would like to see the show continue I think you can bring him back as a ghost mentor to help guide Kyle an the rest of the gain along the way
bring in another character tied to frank and billy to revenge their deaths
Thoroughly enjoyed training day it was a great series and hope you will keep the series on the air even if it requires a new character taking the place of Bill Paxton also put it more so on primetime
Please renew!
I agree if show can go on it would be awesome even if Frank character is in accident where it changes looks if there is an actor who sounds like him
I Love the show it’s awesome and so sad that Bill passed away his character and Kyle are the Best wish it could go on
Please renew possibly with there has to be someone out there that can fill to void left by Bill’s death.
I would love to see Training Day continue. It would be a tribute to Mr. Paxton. Besides, the finale left us hanging. There are too many questions left unanswered. Who or what is Laviathan? How is Joy involved? Why work Kyle off the books to spy on Frank Rourke? We need entertaining shows like this one! Please continue!
keep it going
Would like to see more of Training Day and yes would still watch Training Day it was and is a great show in LA cops die and life still goes on so should the show
So sad Bill Paxton passed away. He was fantastic in Training Day. I love the show. Sure hope it continues. All of the cast members did a great job.
my heart breaks for Mr Paxton, I will miss him truly. But we need good tv shows like Training day, considering all the un watchable junk out there. the cast, the MUSIC, the script is additive. I also think Mark Wallberg would be a good addition. And I am over 50;> Hope you can continue to keep it going
I love this show my husband does too. It’s a wonderful series and I want to continue. It’s a tribute to Bill. You need to do this! We need to know who Leviathan is!!! Frank needs to go out like his daddy.
I love the show.

I hate that Paxton suffered an untimely death & I hope that the series continues, as my husband & I enjoy watching the show. The cast is a good one & I would like it to continue.
