In October, NBC decided not to order any additional episodes of the low-rated series, Trauma, essentially canceling the show after 13 episodes. Then, a few weeks later, NBC ordered three additional installments, likely because they anticipated holes in their spring schedule and the show’s producers were able to significantly cut production costs.
The show’s been off the air since November but the network has now announced that it’s coming back. Is there a chance that the show could actually see a second season?
Taking place in San Francisco, Trauma follows a group of first responders who risk their lives to save others. The cast includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The network recently announced that they were cancelling The Jay Leno Show as of February 12th. That means that, when NBC finishes airing its coverage of the Winter Olympics, the network will have five more hours of primetime to fill. That’s good news for Trauma.

NBC has announced that Trauma will be returning to Monday nights starting on March 8th. They’ve also just ordered three additional episodes, bringing the season total to 20. That means that there are 10 new episodes of Trauma to come.
If the new episodes of Trauma can attract significantly more viewers, the show might have a very good shot at being renewed — especially if the show can continue to be produced economically.
At the recent Television Critics Association winter press tour, Angela Bromstad, NBC’s Primetime Entertainment President, didn’t rule out the show having a future and the new episode order is certainly promising.
However, NBC has plans to beef up their pilot development for next season. The network will develop 10 dramas and eight half-hour comedies. For Trauma to get a spot on the 2010-11 schedule, the low-rated series will have to inspire more confidence than the new shows.
What do you think? Do you think Trauma has a real chance at survival or is it still doomed?

PLEASE BRING BACK TRAUMA AND MERCY……..THEY ARE GREAT SHOWS AND VERY ENTERTAINING…..WHY DO THE NETWORKS KEEP THE STUPID SHOWS LIKE JERSEY SHORE, REAL HOUSEWIVES, AND SO MANY COP SHOWS TO MENTION……??????
I love watching Trauma. It is action packed and still has drama which keeps people craving more. Bring us season two. We need better shows than just reality. Real housewives and jersey shore? Not everyone enjoys watching prissy snobs go shopping and getting laid.
Bring trauma back its an awesome show!
I really wish you would bring back TRAUMA & MERCY!!! I feel you should of let the people decide what should stay and what should go!!!
I AGREE, how about taking a poll from the real viewers. Why don’t you let US decide what stays and what goes? These so-called “reality” shows are nothing but garbage! There is no reality about them! It’s all trash. And we finally get something that we can look forward to and it gets canceled. Why is it that it always seems that when something good comes along, the WRONG people are the ones who get to decide whether that particular thing stays or goes? It’s that way with EVERYTHING … TV shows, food items, restaurants, EVERYTHING … and the really… Read more »
Trauma has become my favorite show to watch and I very much hope that it gets braught back on the air.
TRAUMA IS THE NEXT BEST THING AFTER THE TEN YEAR RUN OF THE SHOW “ER”!! TO FATHAM A CANCELLATION WOULD DEVASTATE ALL AUDIENCES AND i PERSONALLY WOULD STOP WATCHING ANY SHOW ON NBC!!
it is so good to here that trauma is coming back i love the show
Wow! Trauma had me hooked from the very 1st episode. It had the best action scenes, and the actors were great. I feel the same way about Mercy. Another excellent show bites the dust. There is so much crap on TV that I continuously scan channels never finding a thing I like. Finally 2 great shows come our way, and what happens? Go figure. How many CSI’s or Law and Order’s can there possibly be? There are only a couple of comedies I even consider funny and the rest have run themselves dry. Come on, bring the good ones back.
PLEASE PLEASE bring Trauma and Mercy back!!!!! My husband and I loved both of the shows, they made great date nights. We have missed them and have been waiting patiently for there come back.
Please bring back Trauma!!! This is a great show and my wife and my self love watching this show. We didn’t get to watch it live to often do to working at night and would DVR it to watch it together when not working. Please bring it back because a lot of people also work at night and DVR as well. We are both in EMS and work crazy hours and its nice to see a show about what we do.
It sucks that NBC canceled this this show – the acting was great, and I really liked the characters. Why they broadcast the mindless drivel they do, and cancel the really good shows with great character development is mind-boggling. Why don’t they ask the viewers what they want to see instead of the “talking-heads” that get paid big bucks to make stupid decisions on our behalf???
Its nice to see that people would rather watch the lives of guidos and ****** girls than what I do each day (head shake, head shake) 🙁
why is that nbc is always cancelling the phenominal show’s. how about they cut some of that mess they call comedy. that works for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I really enjoyed the show Trauma, I think it was a poor decision to cancel the show.
I Agree, it’s sad to see that our American society is not into the more educationl and action filled programs rather than the boring shows they say are comedy but really are not cause it aint funny at all
