In October, NBC decided not to order any additional episodes of the low-rated series, Trauma, essentially canceling the show after 13 episodes. Then, a few weeks later, NBC ordered three additional installments, likely because they anticipated holes in their spring schedule and the show’s producers were able to significantly cut production costs.
The show’s been off the air since November but the network has now announced that it’s coming back. Is there a chance that the show could actually see a second season?
Taking place in San Francisco, Trauma follows a group of first responders who risk their lives to save others. The cast includes Derek Luke, Cliff Curtis, Anastasia Griffith, Kevin Rankin, Aimee Garcia, Billy Lush, Jamey Sheridan, and Taylor Kinney.
The network recently announced that they were cancelling The Jay Leno Show as of February 12th. That means that, when NBC finishes airing its coverage of the Winter Olympics, the network will have five more hours of primetime to fill. That’s good news for Trauma.

NBC has announced that Trauma will be returning to Monday nights starting on March 8th. They’ve also just ordered three additional episodes, bringing the season total to 20. That means that there are 10 new episodes of Trauma to come.
If the new episodes of Trauma can attract significantly more viewers, the show might have a very good shot at being renewed — especially if the show can continue to be produced economically.
At the recent Television Critics Association winter press tour, Angela Bromstad, NBC’s Primetime Entertainment President, didn’t rule out the show having a future and the new episode order is certainly promising.
However, NBC has plans to beef up their pilot development for next season. The network will develop 10 dramas and eight half-hour comedies. For Trauma to get a spot on the 2010-11 schedule, the low-rated series will have to inspire more confidence than the new shows.
What do you think? Do you think Trauma has a real chance at survival or is it still doomed?

I really liked the show. After ER went off I watched Trama. I hope they will return.
My husband and I really enjoyed this program. There are very few good programs on TV now and this was one of them. We REALLY hope it continues!
I watched it and would watch it again if it came back.
They just have to becareful with getting to deep into the
personal lifes of the EMT’s. That could kill the show
for me.
A show that NBC should kill is Law & Order SUV.
The main guy, what’s his name, plays a real jerk
and his partner Benson is nothing special either.
Get rid of him and I may start watching it again.
I loved watching “Trauma” PLEASE don’t take it off the air…. it was one of the most interesting shows NBC had on the air….I love the people in the cast of the show as well, I thought they ALL did a GREAT job in portraying their parts. I always looked forward to watching this show. Now there is just emptyness-a BIG VOID….:( come on NBC..do you ever learn???
I loved the show and am totally missing it. Excited to hear that it is coming back in March 2010.
I love the show and so do my boys. Some of the other new shows suck.
I hope trauma stays its much better than some of the stupid stuff on the air these days, The show has action, drama, love, real life problems all you could want in entertainment
Scrapp it!
I don’t have the patience for another emergency type of show!
I like it VERY MUCH. U DON”T HAVE TO WATCH IT.
I really liked the show. My friends and I was wondering what happened to the show. NBC is really stupid if they get rid of this show. There are only a few shows on NBC that I like and they stopped this one. NBC wake up and smell the coffee!!!!!!!!!
i really love this show. i am so sick of reality shows. please bring this show back.
The reason that this show was cancel is because its not a reality show. NBC only shows reality shows. The only good show on NBC is Mercy. I am sure that Mercy will be canceled too. Now there is no reason to watch NBC.
Too many shows “saving lives” in a medical fashion already exist. Do we need another one?
Replace it with comedy or a family show.
I LOVE TRAUMA!! now a days im too afraid to get into show cause they might get cancelled so PLEASE BRING BACK TRAUMA
