What’s This TV Show About?
A supernatural serial drama on the Showtime premium cable channel, the Twin Peaks TV show revival is a continuation of the original 1990s ABC TV series. Also known as Twin Peaks: The Return, the horror mystery centers on the return of idiosyncratic FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper (Kyle MacLachlan). The large cast also includes Mädchen Amick, Dana Ashbrook, Everett McGill, Kimmy Robertson, Russ Tamblyn, Ray Wise, Grace Zabriskie, Amy Shiels, Robert Forster, Phoebe Augustine, Chrysta Bell, Richard Beymer, Catherine E. Coulson, Jan D’Arcy, Laura Dern, David Duchovny, Sherilyn Fenn, Miguel Ferrer, Eddie Vedder, Naomi Watts, and Alicia Witt.

Telly’s Take
Although Showtime relies on paid subscriptions rather than ad revenue, they still have to run programming that will help them attract and retain paying customers. Showtime is releasing the episodes online so it’s no big surprise that Twin Peaks is doing poorly in the ratings. David Lynch has said he currently has no plans to do another installment, but wouldn’t rule one out. We’ll see what happens if the revival takes off and Showtime backs up the money truck. For now, I think that there won’t be another season. Subscribe for free updates on Twin Peaks cancellation and renewal news.
8/8/17 update: Twin Peaks is ending with season three. There are no plans for a fourth season. Details here.

What do you think? Do you think Showtime should have renewed its Twin Peaks TV show for a fourth season, or is it ending at the right time?
Twin Peaks should be renewed. There is nothing like it. It is one of the most creative artful work I have ever seen in the media. Because it is so unique it may be considered by traditional standards as too weird. But that makes it enduring. It took courage to take the chance to make the new series. It has everything to entertain you. The actors are awesome. I love the series!
Please renew Twin Peaks. I thoroughly loved the show in the 80’s and loved it now! There are so many things that are still unanswered. I really expected more closure and answers. Please continue the show and give us closure.
I absolutely think the Series should enter a 4th Season and here are my reasons: Judy is still unknown and out there. Could it be Miss Chalfont? Something odd had been going on in the Palmer house all of season 3 and Season’s prior, and the final episode proved that it is a Source of something very Evil. Is Laura Palmer’s mother Judy? The Audrey Horne issue as to her location was not resolved – is she in a looney bin? or stuck in her own ‘dream’ or still in a coma. oddly enough she did give birth to a… Read more »
I subscribed to Showtime simply because Twin Peaks Season 3 was on it.So I sincerely hope there will be Season 4.This is a series that is truly great art.Rob Tucker.
Well, Twin Peaks is the only reason I subscribed to Showtime. and I spent my vacation this year at the “Great Northern Lodge” in Snoqualmine, WA.
please renew this show i’m trapped and housebound by disabilities and poverty and i need non-formulaic, thought provoking distractions from the real hooro show; trump and the sociopathic anti-christ republicult destroying america with and for the death-for0profit corpocracy. next time i’ll vote for the ele meteor, at last that would be mercifully quick
So happy that threw it off not great show I hate it terrible for me. Thank god it cancelled for good now. Never come back in this era.
There is no way in hell this show gets renewed. Regardless of the reviews, critical acclaim and cult following, a 0.1 prime demographic rating is a death sentence. Having less than 500k viewers per episode is unbelievably pathetic (even with the streaming option), and the network executives would never even dream of renewing something with such an abysmal level of viewership. Twin Peaks will definitely be cancelled.
Talked to my friend who works in development on Showtime. Twin Peaks will not be returning for a 4th season
I would love to see Twin Peaks renewed for Season Four. It would be wonderful for The real Agent Cooper to live out his dream of living there and we could see a more familiar development of some of the characters we loved from seasons 1 and 2. Also I feel like it would take at least another Season to fill us in on all the teasers we get from tidbits of life in Twin Peaks that are not really mentioned again so far. Showtime, please give it another Season so the rest of America can catch up to this… Read more »
New season is phenomenal. Better than the original, probably because not network. True to Lynch. Like watching Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, TPFWWM, Lost Highway all together.
I’d watch any show from Lynch. I’d keep paying for Showtime for the privilege.
its not good
it is!
RENEWED FOR SURE!
Hope they do a season 4 to be honest. Lynch is a genius, very open minded and he’s different than all the other boring Tv shows. I loved the two seasons originally and the way they have tranformed another series 25 years later. Brilliant!
Sorrry. I said Showtime produced OZ, it was HBO. MY badness. But it still doesn’t explain they kept on the air ater season three, when it sh….nevermind. Twin Peaks would have been better if they brought back sooner, when the concept was still fresh.
Sometimes things should stay dead. The Return does not justice to the Original, at all. First of all, the writing is just awful. After viewing the first 3 1/2 (I’m 38min into #3) I can say…NO!! STOP!! STOOOOPPP!!! The actors have aged strangely for starters. It’s only been 26 years and look like they are 40+ years older. I wonder if it’s deliberate to show the paranormal influence The Black Lodge had on them? Also, the language. I get it, it’s Showtime…but there were times when they said the Fword just to say it. AND the nudity and gore…I’m NOT… Read more »
I’m loving the new season. It’s much different than the first two but that’s a good thing. There hasn’t really been much swearing and nudity, and where there is it doesn’t feel forced to me. The thing with Lynch is that you have to have a really open mind. Some of these scenes seem like they make no sense but there is a method behind all the madness. Wait until you see the whole season to make a final judgement.
I agree with Brian. And in Lynch I trust.
Some scenes are hard to watch -because of its weirdness or its violence- but I like to (try to) think about all the possible underlying messages.
I feel season 3 is just bringing us back slowly to the main stream. Cooper spent 25 years in a parralel world and you can’t return from their in just few episodes
Lynch is enjoying, and we All are.
