What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the WGN America cable channel, Underground stars Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Aldis Hodge, Jessica De Gouw, Alano Miller, and Christopher Meloni. The cast also includes Christopher Backus, Marc Blucas, Reed Diamond, James Lafferty, Amirah Vann, Bokeem Woodbine, Aisha Hinds, Jasika Nicole, Michael Trotter, Jesse Luken, Sadie Stratton, and Robert Christopher Riley. In the second season, John Legend will guest star as abolitionist Frederick Douglass. A historical drama, Underground follows the heroes of the Underground Railroad who harnessed every bit of their wits, strength, and grit in order to escape slavery and live as free men and women. In season two, their fight for freedom continues, even as tragedy strikes.
Season Two Ratings
The second season of Underground averaged a 0.19 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 567,000 viewers. Compared to season one, that’s down by 40% and down by 43%, respectively. Learn how Underground stacks up against WGN America’s other TV shows.

Telly’s Take
At the beginning of the season, I thought that Underground would be renewed because of its ratings. Now that Outsiders has been cancelled, it’s looking like WGN America wants to get out of the scripted series business. I have a feeling this will be the last season for the series, at least on this channel. I will keep an eye on the ratings, my ear to the ground, and will update this page when I have news to share. This show needs to be completed before canceling it. Viewers were left hanging. I loved this show and was looking forward to a third season. It needs a proper ending.

Can y’all please come on with 3rd season of the Underground Railroad. I told everyone about this show. When people would come visit me, I would be watching the Underground they wouldn’t want to leave because it got them sticky watching. I feel like y’all left us clueless has at the end due to the fact that we all know that there is more the the story. I guess they still don’t want us to know the truth of what was really left out.
Sad there will not be a season 3 of Underground on Tubi.

I think the “ underground “ was at WGN hit show. The show was canceled but I think it needs to be brought back to life. I would love to see what happens in the black roses future.

I am so upset that there is not an actual ending for Underground!! I would not of watch first two seasons, it is a FANTASTIC show and should not of been cancelled !!
Underground deserves a season 3. If not more. This story is not over. Not only does this series so vividly recollect a time period in the American history that is critical to our nation, but just from an entertainment standpoint these characters have yet to finish their roles. Their stories deserve completion and to be seen. How a show like this ratings could drop so dramatically in some ways points right back to the state of this country and the continued issues we face with race relations.
