Will there be a This Is Us spin-off? Series creator Dan Fogelman recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the future of the NBC TV series.
The drama follows a group of seemingly unconnected people as their paths cross and their life stories intertwine in curious ways. The cast includes Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore, Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz, Justin Hartley, Susan Kelechi Watson, Chris Sullivan, and Ron Cephas Jones.
In the interview, Fogelman said there’s no need for the NBC series to have a spin-off just yet:
Not yet. We’re still so early. I haven’t thought about it, not yet. Rather than doing a spin-off, I’d rather keep it within this series at first.
In a couple of episodes, there’s an episode that’s entirely with Sterling and I think our audience will go with it,” he said. “If well-executed, what would be a spin-off can just be done as an arc or a couple of episodes in our series. It helps make it so that the series doesn’t become the same thing over and over and over again and start boring the audience. I think that’s important.”
What do you think? Are you watching This Is Us? Would you watch a spin-off?
This is one show I truly like. It may not be perfect, but the closest to perfect for this year’s crop of broadcast shows. A spin-off will dilute the quality of the show and more often than not, the spin-off will be of poor quality
And I know what it will be called if they do down the road
“This Is Us: Chicago”
I love the show but I don’t want a spin off. I would prefer this show continue with its interesting story lines with the occasional focus on a specific character. I’ve grown to really like the dying biological father of one of the characters. Wish I knew how to keep him around.
They don’t need a spinoff. Sick of when a show does good they start talking about spinoffs. They should concentrate on what they have. It hasn’t even been on that long for spinoff in my opinion. Things so fast these days and nothing lasts.
I don’t like this show. It has been renewed for two more seasons. I wouldn’t have any interest in a spin off. If the ratings on this show ever start to tank(which probably won’t happen until season three) I will be all over NBC to end this show after the third season.
I like the show. I’m glad it’s been renewed. If it keeps up the quality, I hope it goes for many more years. I don’t see any need for a spin off at this time, but they may develop characters that could work in another show.
I love this show. But seriously they were handed a true gift of being renewed for two more seasons barely halfway through Season One. So why look for more already? Just concentrate on keeping up the quality of this show and see if other things develop along the way.
If you don’t like the show, why are you even bothering reading these articles and responding?
