While the writing has been on the wall for sometime, now it’s official. The Valor TV show has been cancelled by The CW after one short season. In January, during the 2018 TCA winter press tour, network president Mark Pedowitz all but broke the news, so we have been expecting this cancellation for a while, now.
A CW military drama, Valor stars Christina Ochoa, Matt Barr, Charlie Barnett, Corbin Reid, W. Trè Davis, Nigel Thatch, and Melissa Roxburgh. The story centers on the Shadow Raiders, a crack unit of U.S. Army helicopter pilots, and the mysterious Thea (Roxburgh), who investigates the unit’s failed Somalia mission.
Valor: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of Valor averaged a 0.21 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 958,000 viewers. Even compared to the other scripted CW TV shows, those ratings are very low — particularly for a new hourlong drama series.
Here’s more from The Hollywood Reporter:
Valor
The Matt Barr- and Christina Ochoa-led military drama — a passion project for CW president Mark Pedowitz — will be honorably discharged at the network. Launched in the fall, the series was one of multiple military dramas to air in the 2017-18 broadcast season. The series failed to cut through and wrapped its run after its initial 13-episode order with The CW opting to put its faith in its Dynasty reboot — which has a lucrative deal with Netflix working in its favor. For his part, Barr was rewarded for his service with the lead in CW pilot Skinny Dip.
Life Sentence was also cancelled by The CW, today. Get the details here.
What do you think? Did you watch the Valor TV series? Should The CW have cancelled or renewed for season two?
I thoroughly enjoyed the series on Netflix and am so disappointed there is not going to be more to answer the many questions obviously intended!
Will you please come out with another season because you can’t just cancel the show after showing that Porters mom is the snake eye and that Matt Barr and Christina Ochoa-led start liking each other. That’s really just wrong
please come out with more it was amazing and I could watch it all day actually have been for the last couple days and can’t help but need more
Need to continue the series!! I discovered this show on Netflix and finished the first season in 2 days. I couldn’t stop watching it! Only reason it took me 2 days to finish is because I had to go to work. But guess what I watched it while on break. Bring it back!!!!!
Watched on Netflix and LOVED it! Please bring out more seasons!!
This was a great series! There should be a season 2 and possibly 3, 4 and 5. It’s sad that people only care about money and ratings instead of making such great series like Valor!
Very disappointed in management to cancel
Season 2 is a must! loved the show. Saw it on netflix
Great show, season 2 should happen
I LOVED this show. SEASON 2 is a need
I found this show on Netflix as well. LOVED IT!! And now my husband started it and he loves it too! I wonder if they would decide to bring it back if enough people catch it on Netflix?
I just stumbled across Valor on Netflix and could not stop watching it. It was a great show and agreeing with what others have stated, had it been promoted more, maybe others would have watched it. Was so disappointed when I read that it was cancelled.
I just found this show on Netflix. It’s one of the better shows on today. Maybe if CW advertised it more, people would watch it.
I am disappointed that “Valor” has been cancelled. My husband and I were so looking forward to seeing this show again. It seems that the best shows are always the ones being cancelled and some show added in its place that is not at all interesting.
Literally eveytime I get into a show it gets cancelled. I vote for a SEASON2 and more!! It was sooooo gooodddd
I am disappointed to see this show not be renewed for a second season. It was refreshing to have a military show with a strong female lead, rather than a supporting role. And much as I like the Seal team shows (and I watch them all) this was a nice choice of a different setting as well. Would be great if Netflix could have this for another season.
I really like this show.
Exactly! I loved this show!
