Although it is known for its gritty modern series, with its new Will TV show, TNT is dipping a toe into the period drama genre. Despite being set in 16th century London, the cable network has promoted its young Shakespeare series — with a modern soundtrack — as an edgy peek at the past, through a contemporary lens. Will today’s audience tune in for a new look at the Bard of Avon? Will Will be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned.
The Will TV series stars Laurie Davidson as William Shakespeare. The TNT cast also includes Olivia DeJonge, Jamie Campbell Bower, Mattias Inwood, Ewen Bremner, Colm Meaney, William Houston, Lukas Rolfe, Max Bennett, and Jasmin Savoy Brown. At just 24 years of age, with no social or political advantages, Shakespeare is willing to risk everything in pursuit of his dreams. He dives headlong into the fast and treacherous world of Elizabethan theatre, trying to make it as a writer.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s chances of staying on the air. The higher the ratings, the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available.

What do you think? Do you like the Will TV show? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season on TNT?
9/5 update: Will has been cancelled; there will be no season two on TNT. Details here.
We are so pleased to have such quality acting, sets and costumes along eith great acting to tell the story of the British conflict between the Protestants and Roman Catholics as see through the eyes of young Shakespeare. Please renew the series.
I love it ! I want more!
I definitely want this show renewed. I think it was under advertised and placed in a bad time slot. Everything about this show is excellent and it deserves more time, and a better time slot.
Advertising it as a punk version does it a disservice: show clips of the fabulous moments we have seen, the real meat of the show and only mention the different spin (for this spin is slight, albeit good). If you don’t want it get it to a network that does: it’s far too good to discard.
I absolutely love this show. Please bring it back for another season!
PLEASE pick up a second (and 3rd,4th…) Season!! I really love it though can’t imagine it without Alice!!
Thanks!!
Alice didn’t learn that the priest threw her under the bus, & therefore, she was tortured. I hope she does find out. I want to see what she does about it.V
Just binge watched this and love it! Please renew it! Somehow missed it… was it even advertised?
We would have missed this amazing show had I not read about it in the newspaper the very night it began. The article merely piqued our interest, but we were absolutely floored by that first episode. Kudos regarding every aspect of this production! It succeeds everywhere and especially because of the actors – all of them! Please bring Will back for another season. Please.
My 18-year old son and I both love this show! We grew up going to Shakespeare festivals and are fans! Good variety. Nice touches with modern music. This show helps to bridge generations. PLEASE ADVERTISE THIS SHOW BETTER. DO NOT CANCEL.
Finally, a fantastic TV show that my husband and I enjoy watching together! Please continue on with Season 2!
