Is all well that ends well? TNT has cancelled its Will TV show after just one season of ten episodes. The decision to cancel the young Shakespeare drama series comes on the heels of last night’s Will season one and unintentional TV series finale episode, “Once, Bright Angel.” The first season of Will premiered on TNT on July 10, 2017.
The Will TV series stars Laurie Davidson as William Shakespeare. The TNT cast also includes Olivia DeJonge, Jamie Campbell Bower, Mattias Inwood, Ewen Bremner, Colm Meaney, William Houston, Lukas Rolfe, Max Bennett, and Jasmin Savoy Brown.
Will: A Look at the Ratings
The first season of Will averaged a 0.11 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 392,000 viewers. It is the lowest rated of the scripted TNT TV shows we’ve been tracking.
Deadline has confirmed the Will TV series cancellation. You can binge-watch the enter first and only season of Will on the TNT website.
What do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Will TV show? Should TNT have cancelled or renewed it for a second season? Sound off, in the comments.
I too agree with the lovers of Will….. actors wow great JOB! Far better than some of the other things you see on tv…. watching the tales of William Shakespeare unfold…. knowing the play’s in your head and giving / watching reasons to why he wrote them ….. simply brilliant…. it takes its views into the 16th centuary…. for those few minuets and you become apart of history….. shame to see it go…. when I’m sure there could have been so many more plots and twists and familiar phases ….
Well foo…Of COURSE it didn’t gain ratings. After episode one they moved it t 11 pm EDT! It didn’t fail. TNT killed it. Such a shame!
AMEN!!!
My heart is broken to hear that the Will series is canceled. What a fun, aspiring crazy tale of young William Shakespeare that had me craving for each new episode. The romance, the villainy, the feeling of being in that particular era all were astounding. I think TNT needs to rethink this decision, it was a breathe of fresh air to watch something other than the annoying, catty television shows that are portrayed on today’s television. I want to know what happens to Alice, I want to know if there is any revenge sought out by Tomcliffe, I want to… Read more »
Oh my gosh! So dissapointed!!! Will was our favorite show in a really long time!! Ugh!! TNT
Again, jerks cancelling a great show! I’m 68 and not in your ratings of 18-49! THAT NEEDS TO BE UPDATED B/C 18 YEAR OLDS ARE NOT SITTING AND WATCHING WILL!!!
I agree with all the other comments. IM sad. I absolutely loved binge watching.
I loved Will, and am upset that it has been cancelled. I think it needed to be better promoted and have had a different time schedule. I hope TNT decides to make a season 2 with a better time schedule, a better release time (in maybe mid fall to winter) and be advertised better. All in all Will was one of my favorite shows and I’m really hoping a season 2 starts to be in the making, it has potential.
The promotion of this show was “non existent” at best! I am in COMPLETE & UTTER AGREEMENT WITH ALL THE COMMENTS IN FAVOR OF THIS OUTSTANDING WELL WRITTEN, WELL DIRECTED, WELL ACTED, ETC…
SHAME ON YOU TNT…YOU HAVE DEFINITELY FALLEN INTO MEDIOCRITY!
This is one of the Best shows I have seen in a VERY long time!
I am so very disappointed that TNT has decided to cancel this show. The summer time slot didn’t work for me – I always planned to watch the entire season at the end of summer. I am so glad I did!! The cast and story line were wonderful. I have recommended it to so many people. I am so sad the it won’t continue- hopefully another network will pick it up and give it the attention and recognition it deserves!! ☹️
I didn’t watch it while it was airing but saw it on demand and I love it I’d totally watch season 2
I thought this was a very well done show. I hope the network will reconsider. I agree with some of the other comments that the show needed to be marketed better. It deserves another chance.
Poor choice to release in the summer. Should have been a fall release and 11PM is a terrible time slot. Would have been a different result if it was in a different slot in the fall season.
All of TNT’s Summer shows showed decreases in watchers. They are highly promoting certain shows and pretty much ignoring others. Will is one they ignored. Like others, I found this show by accident and binge watched it, including all of the bonus features available OnDemand. I also revisited my Shakespeare Collection. The show had interesting presentation of historical details, but the Punk scene of London being the Elizabethan Riff-raff makes its point well understood.
This was a great show. I am sad to see they have cancelled it. It deserves another season and better promotion
I am very disappointed that Will has been cancelled. The acting was great and I even went back and actually re-read some of Shakespeares work. I don’t think the show was promoted very well, I just happened upon it one night and the time slot wasn’t the best either. Hoping TNT reconsiders.
I thoroughly enjoyed season one and am very disappointed that TNT has decided to cancel. The quasi-historical fictional account of WS in his early formative days had some aspects of plot over-reach, but was a very watchable and entertaining. I hope that TNT reconsiders their decision.
