Wonderama is back. Programming Insider reports the classic children’s series is being rebooted for a new generation.
Created in 1955, the original show featured interactive games, challenges, music, dance contests, and celebrity guests like David Cassidy, Jodie Foster, and The Jackson Five. The Sunday morning series ended its run in 1977.
The new, one-hour version of Wonderama will be hosted by David Osmond and featured “an emphasis on art, music, dance, television, film, sports, cooking and politics” with celebrity guests like boxer Evander Holyfield and country musician Michael Ray.
The revived Wonderama is set to debut on New York’s PIX11 on December 25th. From there, the show will branch out to 13 U.S. markets beginning on January 7th.
From producer Chuck Armstrong:
Today’s families are hungry for entertainment they can enjoy together, making now the perfect time for Wonderama’s return. Wonderama provides a one-of-a-kind co-viewing experience that every member of the family can connect and relate to. Our goal is to inspire our audience with content that speaks “to” them in order to convey the message: “Hey, I can do that too!”
What do you think? Do you remember Wonderama? Will you check out the reboot?
I loved Wonderama. I really wish they would bring back this show or shows like this.
