CSI: Miami: Cancelled by CBS, No Season 11

canceled CSI MiamiAfter 10 seasons, it’s time for David Caruso to turn in his sunglasses. CBS has cancelled CSI: Miami, the first show in the CSI franchise to end.

Starting in 2002, the TV series follows a South Florida team of forensic investigators who often use advanced scientific methods to solve crimes. The current cast includes Caruso, Adam Rodriguez, Emily Procter, Eva La Rue, Jonathan Togo, Omar Benson Miller, and Rex Linn.

The ratings for CSI: Miami have declined over the years. Season nine averaged a 2.1 in the coveted 18-49 demographic with 9.85 million total viewers. That was down from season eight by 13% in the demo (vs a 2.4 rating) and down by 5% in viewership (vs 10.39 million).

While the cop show’s overall viewership is still impressive, advertisers want shows that cater to the demo audience and the network has many shows that attract big overall audiences.

What’s more, after 10 seasons on the air, CSI: Miami is no doubt very expensive to produce and there are already 232 episodes, more than enough to keep running in syndication for many years.

Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment, suggested that one of the CSI shows might be cancelled this month. The original CSI was already renewed so it was a guessing game to see if Miami or NY would bite the bullet. CSI: NY has reportedly been renewed for season nine.

Of the cancellation news, CBS released the following statement:

CSI: Miami leaves an amazing television legacy – a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS’s rise to the top over the past decade. We thank all the producers – led by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Ann Donahue — and its talented cast, led by David Caruso, for 10 outstanding seasons. Viewers around the world will continue to enjoy rebroadcasts of CSI: Miami in syndication and on key digital platforms for many years to come.

save csi miami. this was the best series on tv in a long time. If you must cancelled csi los vegas. it hasn’t been good since gill was taken off.

I will miss my show for it is a great show. The actors are very nice i have been looking
at it since it begin. I was looking forward to seeing it this fall and i learn it was not going
to be on. It should con’t . All the csi show’s are great. Thank u for reading my email.

Disgusted that csi miami has now finished!! Hate what you have done with csi vegas !! The new actor is horrendous and to be honest horatio is the top dog!!! Soooo sad!

WHY CANCEL A HIT SHOW!!! CSI MIAMI HAS A GREAT CAST AND IS VERY ACTION PACKED!!! THAT’S WHAT WE NEED ON TV THESE DAYS NOT THE STUPID AND IDIOTIC REALITY SHOWS THAT ARE SO BORING YOU WOULD RATHER BE WATCHING PAINT DRY!!!!!!!!! ALSO THE GIFTED MAN IS ANOTHER SHOW THAT DOES NOT NEED TO BE CANCELLED!!! THE ONE SHOW THAT NEEDS TO BE CANCELLED IS “BIG BROTHER” BUT WE ALL KNOW IT WON’T BE CANCELLED BECAUSE OF THE HOST JULIE CHEN MOONVEST THE CBS OWNERS WIFE! IMAGINE THAT!!! SHE ALREADY HAS “THE TALK”!!!

There are waaaaay more sitcoms that should have been cancelled instead of CSI Miami. The 3 CSI shows are amazing! WHY CANCEL HORATIO CAINE?????

Grrrrrr….. This is upsetting!!!! CSI Miami is one of my favorite show from all of the CSI TV series. I love all the characters on this show. Why did they cancel this show? So dissappointing!

i love csi miami dont get rid of it its great when you tie in the the other 2 csi s as well have just bought 9 waiting on 10 will be DISSAPOINTED IF HARATIO GETS KILLED OFF . i know he does its just so upsetting

Love the show very much, was not happy when they changed it to sundays… I would like to see another season. regular csi was watched by me also but stopped as soon as grisom left.not a big fan of csi ny either…CSI MIAMI IS THE BEST OF THEM ALL…..

I’m bummed. Loved the cast. It took me a while to get used to Heracios demeanor, but once i did I loved his coolness! Now it was my favorite of all the CSI’s. This just stinks!
