CSI: Miami: Cancelled by CBS, No Season 11

canceled CSI MiamiAfter 10 seasons, it’s time for David Caruso to turn in his sunglasses. CBS has cancelled CSI: Miami, the first show in the CSI franchise to end.

Starting in 2002, the TV series follows a South Florida team of forensic investigators who often use advanced scientific methods to solve crimes. The current cast includes Caruso, Adam Rodriguez, Emily Procter, Eva La Rue, Jonathan Togo, Omar Benson Miller, and Rex Linn.

The ratings for CSI: Miami have declined over the years. Season nine averaged a 2.1 in the coveted 18-49 demographic with 9.85 million total viewers. That was down from season eight by 13% in the demo (vs a 2.4 rating) and down by 5% in viewership (vs 10.39 million).

While the cop show’s overall viewership is still impressive, advertisers want shows that cater to the demo audience and the network has many shows that attract big overall audiences.

What’s more, after 10 seasons on the air, CSI: Miami is no doubt very expensive to produce and there are already 232 episodes, more than enough to keep running in syndication for many years.

Nina Tassler, President of CBS Entertainment, suggested that one of the CSI shows might be cancelled this month. The original CSI was already renewed so it was a guessing game to see if Miami or NY would bite the bullet. CSI: NY has reportedly been renewed for season nine.

Of the cancellation news, CBS released the following statement:

CSI: Miami leaves an amazing television legacy – a signature look and style, global popularity and as a key player in CBS’s rise to the top over the past decade. We thank all the producers – led by Jerry Bruckheimer, Jonathan Littman and Ann Donahue — and its talented cast, led by David Caruso, for 10 outstanding seasons. Viewers around the world will continue to enjoy rebroadcasts of CSI: Miami in syndication and on key digital platforms for many years to come.

    PLEASE bring back csi Miami!!!!ita the best of all the csi’s with the best cast members!!!!an too many things have been left unfinished,please at least let there be a follow up closing episode with some kind of ending….BRING BACK MIAMI!!!!BEST SERIES YET…MY THANKS TO EVERYONE WHO CREATED THE 10 SEASONS I LOVED ,especially the cast…..

    Can’t believe season 11 has been cancelled I collect csi on DVD and watch it every day to think season 11 has been cancelled and to not find out how calleigh gets on being a mum will kill me . Csi NY should have got the boot not miami!!! Please bring it back and cancel NY if u have to cancel anything!!

    I think there should be a season 11. Keep the show alive? I thought it was still going strong!!!! I love Emily Proctor!!!! I loved everyone!!! How could it all end??? BRING IT BACK FOR ANOTHER SEASON!!! Don’t let it end like it did!! Put Caleigh on NY at least. She’s awesome and I think her and the kids would be a great addition to NY. it would have another story line to it!! Come on don’t let the viewers down, please!!!!!!

    at least mix it up a little put them in the other csi shows evan in ncis it would be a show that more people would enjoy warching if you take it off the air

    Bring back csi Miami loved the show and the cast. Why take off a good show and replace with something stupid. After 10 seasons you would figure it would be worth keeping doing more seasons.

    that is ridiculous there should be one more season to end it right I watch all the csi shows it makes me sad y’all would end that show and air some of these other shows that aren’t even worth a crap

    there have to be other shows that cbs have besides csi Miami to scrap why not look into them and leave csi Miami going you would be surprised you might be surprised on the ratings and fans that are out there

    i think it is ridicoulous to end the series the way it had at least to a epilogue and let the cast go to to one of the other to spin offs i think cali would make a great addition to the ny team i have been a fan of this show for many years i watched the very first show in 2002 and the last one here recently its a wonderful program and needs to be continues
