Cancelled & Renewed CW TV Shows for 2011-12

Ringer TV show on CWThe CW is the smallest of the major networks and programs the fewest number of timeslots. That doesn’t mean that any show is safe from the chopping block. Is your favorite CW TV series returning or has it already been cancelled? What TV shows have been renewed for another season?

Here’s a list of all of the regular CW TV shows that have aired (or are expected to air) during the 2011-12 season (roughly September 2011 – August 2012).

Using this “cheat sheet” you can tell where your favorite CW TV series stands; how many episodes are in the current season, when it’ll be back on the air and, of course, if it’s already been renewed or cancelled.

If you can’t find a particular CW program on this list, it may have been cancelled last season (2010-11) or perhaps the one before (2009-10). For a list of cancelled shows from all networks, you can go here. It may also be possible that we missed something so feel free to let us know in the comments below.

GG will be renewed 100% for a Final Season 6.

Please read this article on the CW so you get a better understanding on how this network is developing and how it makes it’s profits.

The CW is less reliant on advertising revenue/ratings. Instead they have a mixed portfolio of income from many other means.

Syndication is changing the way networks make money especially (The CW).

This is exactly why GG is safe because the biggest challenge the CW faces is developing new shows that will be the SPNs and GGs of the future. At the moment the network can keep milking these cash cows, and they will. I wouldn’t be surprised to see SPN, GG and 90210 renewed for next year for that reason. But eventually they will need new blood. TVD is the only major success they have had in recent years.

MarcJames87 » The CW has always played by their own rules and has operated at a loss for years. They used to say they focused on young female viewers yet they cancelled shows that were stronger in that demo and kept shows that did better with the traditional 18-49.

I don’t know if GG will be renewed or cancelled for a sixth season. The ratings are quite bad and they already have more than enough episodes for their syndication package. Contracts for the actors and creative team are often for five years and if they have to renegotiate them, that could kill the show’s chances right there.

The CW certainly does need new blood (they just ordered three high profile pilots) and right now most of this season’s new shows are outperforming GG. Wouldn’t this seem like the perfect time to kill it and make room on the schedule for a new show — perhaps the Sex and the City prequel which is from the GG producers?

In the end, there are a lot of economic factors that we don’t know but the ratings are the one thing we do know.

Cancel GossipGirl, Cancel Nikita, Cancel Hart of Dixie…….The Secret Circle is the CWs best show and The Vampire Diaries is the Cws only highly viewed show…….I think the cw should sell the network or add local news or do something for more viewers and highly rated shows!

I’m miffed that RINGER’s return has been postponed for 3 weeks. Three weeks. I won’t be watching the new ‘reality’ REMODEL . For reality, check me out in my mirror.

  6. JED says

“Ringer” is their best show. They shuld make more like it. “Gossip Girl” should end this season. I am enjoying “The Secret Circle”. I would like more adult oriented dramas on here in the future… “Dynasty” would be a good start or something similar like “Revenge”.

  7. Tha Critic says

THE CW STINKS. They cancelled all of their sitcoms in favor of hour-long dramas and stupid reality shows. The only halfway decent show on it is “Nikita”.
