Dateline has been a staple program for NBC since it premiered 25 years ago, and it looks like it’s going to stay that way. Recently, the network announced they’ve renewed the TV show for a 26th season.
Presented by Lester Holt, the long-running newsmagazine features in-depth stories about a variety of subjects, including true crime, current events, politics, and entertainment. Current correspondents include Andrea Canning, Keith Morrison, Hoda Kotb, Josh Mankiewicz, Dennis Murphy, and Jeff Rossen.
A renewal for Dateline was inevitable. The show has been running since 1992 and even though the ratings aren’t great, it doesn’t look like NBC will drop the series anytime soon. The most recent season of Dateline averaged a 0.91 rating in the 18-49 demo and 4.56 million viewers. While not stellar, the show seems to be a consistent performer for the network even after 25 years.
What do you think? Do you watch Dateline? Are you glad it’s been renewed? How much longer do you think the series should run?
Love Dateline, I’m very glad that it hasn’t been cancelled… been watching it for a long time.
LOVE DATELINE, BEEN WATCHING FOR THE LAST 15 OR SO YEARS, GETS BETTER EVERY YEAR. I LOVE HOW THE STORIES ARE TOLD AND OF COURSE ALL THE CORRESPONDENTS ESPECIALLY KEITH MORRISON AND MY LESTER HOLT ROCKS. PLEASE NEVER NEVER NEVER CANCEL!!!!!
I think Lester Holt is the only interesting correspondent on the show. Needs young attractive interesting females to attract viewership. Will Megyn Kelly be on it?
