Syfy has a tendency to keep shows around for 3 years and canceling them no matter how well they do. I hate watching anything on that station because the show wont be around long enough. Bring back Eureka.

I still have hopes for it and am enjoying it, there’s so little actual good shows on and when they do have good ones they vanish. Im just hoping they put more actual sci-fi and deeper plot into it. But fear they will dump it before it has a chance to get there.

Syfy has somehow managed to drain all the Scifi out of what used to be a promising show. This latest episode, “If I Ever Leave This World Alive”, is the last I’ll watch. The plot and even much the dialog seem to be lifted from a ‘Bonanza’ or ‘Gunsmoke’ episode out of the sixties. The show has become a soap opera into which the writers are dumping every cliche there is. There is no more Scifi here- only hidden agendas, backstabbing, murders, politics, moles and spies plotting against the town, betrayals, teenage angst and on and on. In short- a soap opera. You can’t just put a bunch of actors into alien costumes and reuse plots and dialog from 50-year-old tv shows and call it Science Fiction.

They should advertise this as a soap because it’s closer to that than sci-fi, gave up after 3rd ep total twaddle, please cancel this “unpolished” ****.

Great opening episode, but now the plot line is very similar to DS9, but following the police guy rather than the captain. It’s a good series, there’s a great mythology but it needs to be well scripted. It’s getting a bit boring 6 episodes in. If people are grey with their ethics, make them credible like characters in the Shield and Breaking Bad. The show is rather light with these boundaries. I’ll reckon it has 2 series in it, unless scripting makes it harder edged with harder and more dubious characters.

Game was terrible and avoided buying it after watching friends suffer. My friend and I wasted a couple hours of our lives watching the first couple of episodes before I gave up. There is something seriously wrong with all forms of media these days when I’m reading books half a century or more old, playing games from early to mid 2000’s, and mainly watching sitcoms or old sci-fi from 2008 or earlier. Let’s not even get started on the ‘news’ media.

I can’t tell if consumers are just that dumb/ignorant these days or if companies are just that good at sugar-coating dog turds and telling us its candy.

Alex you have summed up this series and all current Sci-fi offerings with impeccable accuracy!
The problem is with the entire industry. No new writers are added as agents won’t support them since they don’t demand as high a percentage as existing writers. The problem is the existing writers continue to write crap that gets cancelled, series after series, and the networks don’t seem to get it. Science Fiction fan’s haven’t changed, they’re just not watching anymore because there is nothing of value that interests them. The same small cadre of horror lovers who couldn’t see a plot hole if they fell in it, fill the ratings for all these “B” rated sci-fi series, and the networks think they have a winner…lol.

WOW!!! Watching the May 6 episode and it may win a Winter Olympic Gold Medal for the fastest downhill on record! Dump it before Scyfy fans dump you.

  9. Jeanette says

Didn’t even finish watching the first episode. Big flop as far as I’m concerned and if they really put as much money into it as they claimed, they sure did waste most of it. Tired of aliens always looking like humanoids. No imagination to this show that I could detect.
