To no surprise, ABC has cancelled freshman sitcom Hank. The Kelsey Grammer show failed to catch on with critics or many viewers.
Hank revolves around a Wall Street CEO who’s kicked out of his own company and must relocate with his family to his small hometown in Virginia. Aside for Grammer, the series stars Melinda McGraw, David Koechner, Jordan Hinson, and Nathan Gamble.
The sitcom got off to a slow start on September 30th with a 2.1 rating in the demo and 8.34 million total viewers. The numbers got worse from there and last week Hank hit a series low of a 1.3 rating and 5.09 million viewers.
It’s been assumed that the show would be cancelled for awhile now, especially since ABC handed out full season orders to all of its other freshman sitcoms; The Middle, Modern Family, and Cougartown.
ABC confirmed the cancellation of Hank today and said that production is being halted after 10 episodes. The sitcom’s end comes on the heels of the cancellation of another struggling Wednesday night show, Eastwick.
Five episodes of Hank have been aired so far and it’s unclear whether or not the network will get around to showing the remaining five at some point in the future.
For now, Hank’s timeslot will be filled with repeats and specials.
What do you think? Was this show as bad as so many people think? Was there anything that could’ve been done to fix it?

I really liked what they were doing with this show and I think with a little time and couple of tweaks it could have been a bigger and longer series. An up to date theme of going from riches to rags. ABC n other like minded networks should be working on better story lines and jokes instead of only thinking about there precious ratings.
I didn’t know he had a new show. This the first I heard about it
I thought this show was great, granted it wasn’t Frasier but I was so wanting to see Kelsey Grammer in another sitcom and this was as close to his Frasier character as you could get. I think the problem was the supporting cast just wasn’t as funny as Kelsey and there just wasn’t the chemistry as there was from the get-go with Frasier.

i thought the show was really good. so much better than the Middle. I missed it once it was off. Wish it was still on.
Kelsey was just darn old for that type of role. He didn’t seem to click with them. He is a great actor but he needs a role more befitting of his age and it would be a sure hit.
Hank & Eastwick Were both GREAT shows! I don’t understand how some people didn’t like them.
I think Hank was great! So real in this day and time. I didn’t care for Frasier at all. I thought is was stupid, although I did like Frasier on Cheers. I was very disappointed when they cancelled Hank. Come on, give us some sitcoms we can watch with out children. Instead we get Cougar Town? Yea, that’s a good one. Not!
I and my mom both liked Hank, it was funny. I don’t think it was given enough of a chance.
I liked Hank. Kelsey Grammer is hilarious.
i like hank. if you liked frasier, i don’t see why you wouldn’t like this. it wasn’t given a chance.
The show was just not funny…..They were trying too hard…..
i liked hank, and i liked back to you that was also cancelled.. i don’t think hank was given enough time at all…. :-/
Let’s face it, anything ever did after Frasier is going to be a disappointment. No Tv viewer can get that out of their head
