Tim Allen’s second long-running ABC sitcom has come to a close. His Last Man Standing TV show has been cancelled so there won’t be a seventh season on ABC. The ABC family sitcom follows straight-talker Mike Baxter (Tim Allen), a man surrounded by women.
Last Man Standing also stars Nancy Travis, Molly Ephraim, Kaitlyn Dever, Amanda Fuller, Jordan Masterson, Flynn Morrison, Jonathan Adams, Christoph Sanders, and Hector Elizondo.
Last Man Standing: A Look at the Ratings
The sixth season of Last Man Standing averaged a 1.15 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.41 million viewers. Compared to the fifth season, that’s down by 5% in both measures.
Although when sorted by ratings demo numbers Last Man Standing ranks 12th among the 25 scripted ABC TV shows we’re tracking, in terms of average total audience size it’s a top three show. That’s pretty good for Friday nights, when the audience is smaller.
In addition to performing solidly for ABC, Last Man Standing does well in syndication.
Unfortunately, ABC does not share in those syndication profits since the series is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. In the past, the network had negotiated with the studio to secure lower licensing fees. This time around, there was no last-minute bargaining.
There’s been no news of trying to shop the series elsewhere but, if the studio and creatives are willing to make the jump, Last Man Standing seems like a natural candidate to move to a streaming or cable outlet.

I absolutely love this show! I’m 57 years old and I think That the Mike Baxter character is a lot like myself. I love the way he always speaks his mind, instead of being afraid of offending someone! All this politically correct crap just makes me want to gag. This show reminds me of another great show: All in the family! This show is is a inspiration to men who aren’t afraid to still speak their mind!
Been watching the show in syndication as I was not aware of its existence before. Absolutely LOVE this show! Every cast member cracks me (& my boyfriend) up! Storylines are good along with the cast’s acting. (The replacement for Kirsten’s character was a good move.) Tim & Nancy have believable chemistry & we love that Mike Baxter tells it like it is! If anyone has a problem with the show’s dialogue, they need to get the stick out of their behinds! The world NEEDS these types of shows & the laughs they generate. Always watch in syndication. Great show, bottom line stinks for ABC – should have kept this one going. ABC kept stupid game shows, signed lame remakes, no innovation there.
Great show with great writers! Perhaps it resonates with a little older crowd than 18-49 since it reflects conservative views?.
We watch television too, and enjoy funny, clean and witty programming. Give us more of Last Man Standing.
Well this really sucks a big fat hairy one.. I loved Last Man Standing, my boyfriend did to . We would rather just sit on the couch & watch that show & eat popcorn & get to relax and laugh. And why do these stupid big companies & corporations have to mess with crap? Haven’t they ever heard of the saying if it’s not broke don’t try to fix it. Leave shi* alone dang it. And the crappy shows they are going to put on instead I sure won’t be watching that dog crap.

So sad to see a decent family show go away! There really aren’t many out there anymore! Kids and adults should be watching this type of show instead of so much garbage that is out there between language and morals! So much corrupts our future!
