ABC gave 666 Park Avenue a lot of promotion leading into the fall season. Has it paid off? Is the new show a ratings success or is it in danger of being cancelled instead?
If you haven’t seen it, 666 Park Avenue follows a Midwest couple who’ve moved to New York City and end up managing The Drake, a prestigious residential hotel. They feel like they’re living their dream lives — until they realize that every dream comes with a price. The TV series features the talents of Terry O’Quinn, Vanessa Williams, Dave Annable, Rachael Taylor, Robert Buckley, Mercedes Masöhn, Helena Mattsson, Samantha Logan, and Erik Palladino.
The show debuted on September 30th, in ABC’s troubled Sundays at 10pm timeslot (see: Pan Am, GCB). The premiere’s ratings weren’t very impressive, attracting a mediocre 2.1 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 6.9 million total viewers. That was 30% lower than what Pan Am had registered last fall — and we all know what happened to that show.

Unfortunately, Park Avenue’s numbers have gotten even worse since the debut. The coveted demographic dropped to a 1.7 rating in week two (down 19%) and a 1.5 rating in week three (down another 12%). The ratings perked up a bit in weeks four (a 1.7 rating) and five (a 1.6 rating) but are still terrible.
A couple weeks ago, ABC ordered two more scripts for Park Avenue, likely to give the network execs some extra time to continue watching the ratings and then determine the show’s fate. If they were hoping for growth, they were disappointed.
ABC initially ordered 13 episodes of Park Avenue. They could put some more into production but that seems unlikely given the ratings. We’re heading into the holiday season so the show will probably be pre-empted and that will likely hurt the numbers even more.
For whatever reason, this one just hasn’t resonated with a large audience. At this point, unless the ratings start getting better, it looks like 666 Park Avenue is doomed to be cancelled.
But, what do you think? Do you like the TV series? Do you think it should be cancelled or renewed for another season? Could anything be done to attract more viewers or is it already too late?
I really hope this show can be given a chance. I love the intrigue and mystery, and the actors are great. This reminds me of Lost with the suspense and supernatural happenings. I don’t see why they can’t move it to another night/timeslot so that it has a chance. Competing with Football is a killer. If they can keep it until football is over, maybe the ratings will improve. I hope so.
Excellent show!! Please change the time slot. It is the best show on tv!!
Please don’t cancel
l it’s an excellent mystery and we need to find out what is happening
I absolutely LOVE this show. It is excellent…one of the only ones I stay up for. It’s better than this season of American Horror Story by far! Maybe a different night would work or a different time slot. I can’t understand why it wouldn’t take off. Of course I didn’t see any previews I just stumbled upon it and glad I did!
Just started watching it online. Like it. Do TV execs consider that a lot of eyeballs are on the computer because Sunday sucks?
Give it a New time slot but keep it on!! This is a great show! I look forward to watching it every week . Please give it a chance!! I’m so into it and if it cancels we won’t ever get to know the mystery.
This show is one of the best shows currently on tv. To cancel it would be a huge mistake. Give it a chance to flourish! Change the time slot! This is a very unique, well written show with an amazing cast! Every single cast member brings something different to the table!
666Park Ave is a great show if ABC cancels I hope another network picks it up in a better timeslot like Wed or Thurs nights.
It would be a shame to have this excellent show cancelled, but then again it seems that the TV exec’s never really let a show have a chance before they decided to nix it. A new time slot is what is necessary for this to hopefully survive. I think it is a lot better than some other shows that are on the tube these days.
again a very good show with great writing and storyline is on the bubble. If you aren`t
watching you are missing an amazing show. Suspenseful and reminiscent of alfred hitchcock, rod serlings twilight zone and tales from the crypt. a very intelligent show
that should stay! It is worth saving!
new time slot. wednesday late slot.
The problem is the time slot. When you put it up against the NFL (the most popular TV programming in America), it’s doomed to get terrible ratings. Duh.
They just ordered more episodes, so I don’t think it will get cancelled, especially as Last Resort is really sucking.
I agree with other postings. Networks do not give shows a chance to survive. Why bother watcing if it is going to get cancelled? 666 Park Ave is really interesting. Love Vanessa Williams and Terry O’Quinn…comme on ABC…give it a chance!!!
I don’t usually watch a lot of television but look forward to 666 Park Avenue
And I will be very disappointed if it is canceled. I agree with the
Other comments stating they won’t watch shows on ABC because anything
Worthwhile gets canceled. I guess they will force us all to watch cable stations
This is the best show I have since on regular stations in years. Such a shame
They may cancel this exciting and intriguing show. It has it all
I hope they try and save the show even if they need to change its time
