Only three returning ABC TV shows were up in the ratings last season and many new series were cancelled. How will the alphabet network perform this time around? Stay tuned!
There’s lots of data that network execs looks at when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series but ratings are the major ingredient. These charts will be updated daily, as new ratings data becomes available.

A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released. The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing), unless marked with an asterisk (*). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually so feel free to let me know if I missed something.
Keep in mind that the demo numbers are typically what’s most important to advertisers. Therefore, that’s how the networks measure success. Advertisers pay more for ad time on a show that has a higher demo rating. Because older viewers don’t count? No, it’s because younger viewers watch less traditional TV and are harder to reach.
Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking.
The networks take into account when shows air on Fridays and Saturdays, nights when TV viewership is lower.
What do you think? Are you surprised by any of the ratings? Which shows should be doing better? Which one do you think will be cancelled next?
Please stopping canceling my shows….I loved wicked city as well as kings and prophets. Can I at least get to see the other episodes of kings and prophets you recorded on Hulu or something. I mean you still air The Bachelor and The Bachelorette and we all know how mindless those shows are.
More Comedy Please.
I Loved code black. Its my favorite new show on the air. I dont understand howa great show like code black isnt doing well in the ratings.
Note to ABC: After Blood and Oil and a few other dramas that were cancelled, I will not be investing anymore tube time on any new ABC dramas. I will go to HBO instead.
I agree ABC gets us hooked on these shows and before we even realize they are on air the series is cancelled.
If ABC was smart they would realize the boycott by fans of All My Children and One Life To Live is working. ABC/D insulted millions of soap fans when Brian Frons said “soap fans can be trained like dogs to watch his vision of daytime television”. When someone insults people an apology usually follows. ABC bring back AMC and OLTL!
Wicked City should never have been canceled!
There is marketing value to time and place and so it is reasonable to conclude that Castle value is impacted by the presence of the main actor at the right time… We see Beckett not involved in 814. Concur her presence in LA not needed but she has a lot of value around the 12thprecinct and the value of the show is affected by her absence. Especially when the over arching LOKSAT involved, Why not write her into a quick visit to the interrogation room and a pat on the back of the staff and the perception she is the… Read more »
Based on the chart above, it’s clear that in addition to Blood & Oil and Wicked City, Galavant and Agent Carter are certain to be cancelled, too. Since the networks usually cancel about 10 shows every spring – Castle, Nashville, American Crime, The Muppets and Dr. Ken could be gone, too. Especially now with the new president who will be cleaning house. We have yet to see how The Family or The Catch do this March, but if they fail they will be on the list, too. Finally, after dropping from 1.9 to 1.2, I expect ABC’s only new “hit”… Read more »
2-17-2016 I fully support Castle in his frustration over LOKSAT. It is time for Kate to make full disclosure and stop the negative energy it is generating with the characters and the audience.
I understand that cancelled Agent Carter marvel comics so good show i hope does’t happen.
I am a Castle fan so I watch that no matter what. Hopefully changes will be made to get it back on track to get the numbers where they should be for ABC.
This was ratings gold until new show runners stepped in. Guess we will just have to wait and see.
Why is no one watching Galavant? That show is so brilliant and funny, and I am someone who normally hates musicals. Season 2 has really stepped it up, and has a great story along with very catchy tunes. Please let it be back for S3, and ABC, release the DVDs!
We LOVE Gallavant. It would be really cool to have the words for the songs, they are so clever.
Please bring back Blood and Oil!!! Love that show!!!
Yes, I would love this show to be back on. I love, love it and held your attention. Don Johnson is a great actor and so cool in this show.
How to Get Away With Murder? Absurd from the very first show. Ditto for Quantico. If the FBI is as ridiculous as this show we all better get guns. Wicked City? Who is the idiot who approved this bloody show that will surely generate real-life copycats? What were they thinking at ABC?
Only new show that is absolutely FUN is the Muppets. Great idea of having Miss Piggy as a late night show host with real stars as visitors. Love it so I can be sure it will be cancelledd.
