During the regular part of the 2021-22 television season, ABC aired just as many scripted as unscripted series. The Alphabet Network launched six new scripted series, but only two of them will be returning for 2022-23. How will ABC’s new crop of TV shows perform in the ratings this season? Stay tuned!
ABC shows (so far): 20/20, The $100,000 Pyramid, Abbott Elementary, Alaska Daily, America’s Funniest Home Videos, American Idol, The Bachelor, Bachelor in Paradise, The Bachelorette, Big Sky, Celebrity Family Feud, Celebrity Jeopardy!, Celebrity Wheel of Fortune, The Chase, Claim to Fame, The Company You Keep, The Conners, The Game Show Show, Generation Gap, The Good Doctor, The Goldbergs, The Great Christmas Light Fight, Grey’s Anatomy, Home Economics, Jeopardy! Masters, Judge Steve Harvey, A Million Little Things, Not Dead Yet, The Parent Test, The Prank Panel, The Rookie, The Rookie: Feds, Shark Tank, Station 19, Will Trent, and The Wonder Years.
There’s lots of data that network execs look at when deciding whether to renew or cancel a TV series but ratings are the major ingredient. These 2022-23 season charts will be updated daily, as new ratings data becomes available.
Note: If you’re not seeing the updated chart, please try reloading the page or view them here and here.
A couple of notes about these charts:
These figures are updated automatically as new ratings are released. The averages are based on the final national numbers (live plus same day viewing), unless marked with an asterisk (*). For technical reasons, I have to resort them manually. While these numbers don’t include further delayed or streaming viewing, they are a very good indicator of how a show is performing, especially when compared to others on the same channel. There can be other economic factors involved in a show’s fate, but typically the higher-rated series are renewed and the lower-rated ones are cancelled.
Keep in mind that the demo numbers are typically what’s most important to advertisers. Therefore, that’s how the networks measure success. Advertisers pay more for ad time on a show that has a higher demo rating. Older viewers also matter but younger viewers watch less traditional TV and are therefore harder to reach. Delayed viewing matters more and more these days (if commercials are watched) but live viewing is still advertisers’ ideal.
Demo numbers are typically reported using the 10ths decimal place (2.4, for example). In the averages, I’m using an extra decimal for easier ranking. The networks take into account when shows air on Fridays and Saturdays, nights when TV viewership is lower.
What do you think? Are you surprised by any of the ratings? Which 2022-23 shows should be doing better? Which one do you think will be cancelled next?
Wish the head exes stop being difficult about the writers demands. This going be sucky television season.
Please renewed Not dead yet so funny love it and enjoy it so good cast too. Look forward to seeing it new series
Fun fact about many TV shows from the US. They actually get brought to be aired in different countries and they earn alot of money from that, the ratings and popularity on a few of these shows are better then the US yet they almost face cancelation because poor ratings in the US.
Fun fact. They should have been doing this more than a decade ago, when the shows were a lot better, the acting was a lot better, the scripts were a lot better, and the ratings were a lot better, but they didn’t. Now most of the stuff on the air is low rated garbage that just keeps getting renewed because of what you said. It’s the reason I don’t watch network TV anymore and had no qualms about dumping my cable.
Me neither. I mostly watch old shows, and when I risk myself at new ones, on demand. I hate the mediocrity that comes out of every aspects of it. Even from people who used to write great TV shows. As far as ABC is concerned, they are dead to me for renewing these hack Shondaland shows, fans still watch, because they are just pathetic that way.
Not dead yet love it
Please renewed season 2 new series comedy god not dead yet so funny love it
Will Trent ! Really enjoying. If ABC DOES NOT RENEW, I WILL GO WHEREVER IT LANDS.
Have many ppl watching, and everyone loves it!
The ratings say otherwise.
The Good Doctor please reconsider boost your number ratings so good one of my mom favorite shows drama. Looking forward to seeing it so good never missed any episode of it.
They make it so hard to watch any of the regular Television stations that I am amazed that they even have any shows left on any of them. If you can find your favorite shows on Netflix or Hulu, you can only watch part of them. I miss the old Tube televisions with the rabbit ears, where you could watch your favorite shows for free every week at a certain time from approximately September until May each year! My daughter and I loved to watch The Rookie, Once Upon a Time, and Dancing with the Stars, but with all of… Read more »

Look forward to seeing it The Good Doctor so good never missed it. Please reconsider it in boost your number ratings.
The only thing I watch is Press Your Luck! That’s it the rest of the crap on is just that crap.
20/20 needs to be a one hour show, not two hours. They drag this show out with unnecessary filler information irrelevant to the show and it becomes taxing.
The Good Doctor please reconsider in boost your number ratings so good medical drama. Look forward to seeing it every Monday night at 10pm. Enjoy it and love it all episodes of it.
