While doomsday meteors, mass vanishings, demonic possessions, and serpent gods couldn’t stop the Copeland family, no one is immune to the network TV Powers That Be. The Aftermath TV show on Syfy has been cancelled after its first and only season.
Star James Tupper broke the news that there would be no Aftermath season two, on Twitter. Halfire Entertainment produced the post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama in association with Syfy and Canada’s Space channel. Anne Heche, Julia Sarah Stone, Taylor Hickson, and Levi Meaden also starred.

Aftermath Season One Ratings | Syfy
In the US, Aftermath premiered on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 with a 0.16 rating in the 18-49 year old demographic and 634,000 viewers. While the series never really built on that audience, it did manage to maintain it.
Overall, the first season of Aftermath averaged a 0.16 in the demo and drew an average total audience of 594,000 viewers.
Those numbers currently put Aftermath right in the middle of Syfy’s slate. Out of the 15 Syfy TV shows we have been tracking in to 2016-17 television season, Aftermath ranks seventh, when we sort by either demo ratings or average total audience size.
Although it is a bit of a surprise to see a cable channel cancel a middle-of-the-pack TV series, remember, Aftermath is a Syfy-Space co-production. In other words, the decision was not only Syfy’s to make.
That said, in the recent past, Syfy has cancelled shows that earned better ratings in both measures. When the cable channel cancelled Defiance after three seasons, it was averaging a 0.25 and 1.125 million, respectively. Similarly, Dominion, which was cancelled after two seasons on Syfy, averaged a 0.25 in the demo and 869,000 total viewers.
Finally, what do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Aftermath TV show? Do you think Syfy and Space should have cancelled or renewed it for a second season? Let us know, below.
I advise everyone who enjoyed this series to go to syfy homepage and leave a feedback to bring aftermath back….it might not do anything but its better than just whinning about it.. 🙂
I loved the show…my family actually sat and watched it together….its hard to find. Series that can entertain and hold the interest of all of us…i hope someone brings it back it has so much potential on where it goes…
I enjoyed the show. Great research and a cool new spin on the appocolips. I think the main problem is when they showed it. Most my friends recorded it and I did as well if I was going to miss it. Need season 2
I was really looking forward to a 2nd season of Aftermath. What a shame. It was such a unique concept for a show…which is rare these days. I even record the 1st full season and got my mom interested in the show. I hope someone rethinks their decision and brings it back.
Y cancel this show out of all the dumb shows u cancel one of the best ones my husband and i couldn’t wait for season 2 and to find out it was cancelled that makes us very upset please put it back on PLEASE
This was my favorite new show. I swear my taste in shows scream ‘cancel after a single season!’ I am getting sick of these cancellations! What’s the point?
It’s not fair to find out Aftermath has not been renewed. There’s just to many shows on to keep track of the good one’s. I just watched the full season on demand couldn’t stop. It’s nice to find shows that make you watch till the end. Please continue its nice to see something different.
This show actually made me want to watch the syfy channel. It was something interesting to watch and kept me wanting to see more. Why do they stop after one season? I have no idea but should reconsider it because i loved the first season, and was looking forward to the second season.
Maybe if the networks would quit stopping shows for 2-3 months then bring them back without notice people wouldnt start following other shows, what happened to watching all the episodes except around holidays? Now they break the series in the middle, show other new series then come back to that original series its frustrating.
shame about aftermath, good characters and story deserves another season unlike some shows
Crud – we just got walked “Half Way Home” again. 🙁
SyFy is becoming just like the ‘network’ stations.
Sadly, with these constant cancellations, Netflix, Amazon & Hulu are looking better and better to me.
I think its really wrong to cancel show after one season. People get into a show and invest time in it only to be dropped. Its decisions like this that will make me think twice about starting another sci fi show. What incentive would i have to watch another program on sci fi not knowing if it will be dropped early again. Shame on you scy fi network….shame on you.
I sorry to see Aftermath go I enjoyed the show and was looking forward to season two please bring it back
I think this was an interesting show. Can you bring this back for a few more seasons? I forgot this had started now Im interested in watching more. Or move this to a different network please.
I hate it when they cancel with a cliffhanger. I want closure. It was a good show and i was really looking forward to the second season.
