While doomsday meteors, mass vanishings, demonic possessions, and serpent gods couldn’t stop the Copeland family, no one is immune to the network TV Powers That Be. The Aftermath TV show on Syfy has been cancelled after its first and only season.
Star James Tupper broke the news that there would be no Aftermath season two, on Twitter. Halfire Entertainment produced the post-apocalyptic sci-fi drama in association with Syfy and Canada’s Space channel. Anne Heche, Julia Sarah Stone, Taylor Hickson, and Levi Meaden also starred.

Aftermath Season One Ratings | Syfy
In the US, Aftermath premiered on Tuesday, September 27, 2016 with a 0.16 rating in the 18-49 year old demographic and 634,000 viewers. While the series never really built on that audience, it did manage to maintain it.
Overall, the first season of Aftermath averaged a 0.16 in the demo and drew an average total audience of 594,000 viewers.
Those numbers currently put Aftermath right in the middle of Syfy’s slate. Out of the 15 Syfy TV shows we have been tracking in to 2016-17 television season, Aftermath ranks seventh, when we sort by either demo ratings or average total audience size.
Although it is a bit of a surprise to see a cable channel cancel a middle-of-the-pack TV series, remember, Aftermath is a Syfy-Space co-production. In other words, the decision was not only Syfy’s to make.
That said, in the recent past, Syfy has cancelled shows that earned better ratings in both measures. When the cable channel cancelled Defiance after three seasons, it was averaging a 0.25 and 1.125 million, respectively. Similarly, Dominion, which was cancelled after two seasons on Syfy, averaged a 0.25 in the demo and 869,000 total viewers.
Finally, what do you think? Did you watch the first season of the Aftermath TV show? Do you think Syfy and Space should have cancelled or renewed it for a second season? Let us know, below.
I loved it hate to see it go
I used to watch SyFy channel series faithfully, but their caprcious attitude about cancelling good shows finally annoyed me so much that I stopped. I decided to give Aftermath a chance because of its cast. It”s cancellation has cinched it. I’m deleting the SyFy channel from my favorite channels on my remote. SyFy has no loyalty to its viewers?
Really. This blows. 624000 people are now hung on the fate of them n the world you brought to our TV’s. It’s messed up to leave it at that. Really bad. If in the series can’t be brought to season two n to ending then I will start a campaign to get it back and start posting how space n Syfy should be boycotted. I am a photographer n photojournalist. Please don’t leave this as it is. Give us an ending. Something.
Every single time I find a series I really enjoy, the network cancels it. Aftermath is one of those series that I actually could not wait for the next episode to air.
I am so sad that it was not renewed for another season. Its funny that crap tv series like ghost hunters and many versions of it, are still running.
Came across this by accident on Syfy.com app. Syfy did a poor job of promotion. Binge watched it and thought it was very entertaining. Great cast and thought it was improving with every ep. Disappointed no more will be produced.
I am so disappointed that there is not going to be a season 2. I just found out when I came to SyFy.com and couldn’t find any mention of season 2. Everytime I find a show I like this happens. Why do they keep bringing back reality tv and such but cancel the good stuff? Sad day for me.
I really got into “Aftermath” after watching it on demand if I missed the original airing… I’m sure it left many people hanging onto the edge of their seats. Very disappointed they decided to cancel it after only one, GREAT season!!!
They need to keep playing aftermath I thought it was a good show every time I like a show they want to shut it down like grim it was a good show also please Quit taking good shows off if you want to take shows off take like flip your house or we bought the farm stuff like that thank you
Yes It Was A Mistake Taking Off Grimm My Favorite Show And Now AfterMath.. Good Family TV Is Axed While Vulgar Fighting Cussing Toxic Tv Reigns.. I Do Like HGTV So Flip The House And We Bought The Farm Can Stay Too Hahaa There’s Room For All..
I found this show by accident and LOVE it! I binge watched the first season as I had just come across it on demand. Of course it can’t get ratings without any advertisement! It says it kept the audiences that tuned in, so what does that tell you? The show did its job keeping the audience, the network didn’t do its job telling people about it. Hugely disappointed
I enjoyed the series. Pity it was cancelled.
I really liked the show and it’s cast. I’d like a 2nd season, please.
I loved this show! I was looking forward to another season, why do you cancel the good shows and then out something stupid on to replace it? Bring it back!
WHY oh WHY did they cancel the show? I love it so much. I am very angry about the lack of advertising for this show and that it is over. So mad. It is freaking epic and IMDB should have gave it a way better score. SO SAD!!!
Aftermath made me a syfy fan. I was told about it through a friend. Binged watched season1. Now there not going to be a season2. I haven’t watched syfy since. Thanks for taking the greatest show off.
Reading these comments was the first I’ve heard of Defiance being cancelled. Yet, wynona earp is back for a second season. Stargate was around for 10 years. ???
