Phil Keoghan, get your passport ready! CBS has announced that The Amazing Race has been renewed for the 2016-17 season. It’s unknown if the network has renewed the venerable competition series for one or two cycles at this point but we do know there will at least be a 29th competition.
Hosted by Keoghan, the 28th cycle of The Amazing Race is currently airing on Friday nights. This season features 11 pairs of contestants racing around the world in pursuit of a million dollar prize. Each team features at least one Internet celebrity.
The current season’s ratings are on par with last spring’s edition, averaging a 1.11 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 5.77 million viewers. That’s also about the same as last Fall’s edition.
Today, the network announced 2016-17 season renewals of 10 other shows as well — 2 Broke Girls, Blue Bloods, Elementary, Hawaii Five-0, Madam Secretary, Mom, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, Scorpion, and Survivor.
What do you think? Are you still a fan of The Amazing Race? Would you like to see a new twist added to the competition next season?
bring it back twice a season. its the best.
definitely bring back the amazing race. its my favorite & hope it will comeback twice a season ‘and’ at a better time of night.
I am in Durham, NC and the show comes on CBS Friday Nights at 10:00PM.
Any way you can get the show back on Sunday Nights 8:00 PM? I am a great fan and hope this show continues for years to come.
Would like to see more minorities. All races participating.
Can’t wait. Have watched every single season . . . this show needs to be renewed for years to come.
I miss The Amazing Race… my all time favorite show ever….been far too long since we were able to watch it….go back to having a bigger variety of people of different ages and sizes and jobs. (not everyone needs to be a model)…go back to more driving and intelligence challenges along with the physical stuff….can not wait for it to start again.
My wife and I are regular and enthusiastic Amazing Race fans. We miss not having the show on. Seeing the debut of the new “Hunted” show on CBS makes one surmise that the hiatus will extend beyond at least the end of that new show. Either CBS or the show’s producers ought to provide an update concerning the status of the show since the only “official” comment was that the show had been renewed for the 2016-17 season and that comment was at least 8 months ago. It should go without saying that the longer the show is absent, the… Read more »
My husband and I love the show. We were upset that it wasn’t on in the fall of 2016! It’s a fun show and you get to see lots of the world from your couch.
I hope the Amazing Race will return, I so enjoy the show…have watched every season.
I certainly hope amazing race will return. These stations don’t remove these lousy shows, they cancel good and entertaining shows.
I agree….and put it back on the weekend….miss its Sunday slot. Families tend to watch show on Sundays….it was the perfect day.
I’ve often thought it would be fun to see a season of previous contestants who were eliminated the first leg. Think about it, they were cast for a reason, and they felt they could win. Give them another chance. Which brings me to…where are you? The tv viewers are waiting for you!
I think it would be amazingly fun to see all of the people competing on amazing race be former competitors from survivor.
God no!!! not everyone cares for Survivor….how about a contest of Amazing Race fans….maybe a random draw of entries….would be more fun….Or I would love to be a fan and pick a previous racer to be your partner.
Love the Amazing Race! Keep airing it! Maybe another past runner-up contestants race?
We sure have been missing The Amazing Race. When it didn’t start up with Survivor it was heartbreaking. These 2 shows are indispensable in our TV viewing lives. Most (95℅) of the new shows coming out on any network are pure garbage. The Race and Survivor are great entertainment and easy to watch without the bad language and sexual innuendos every second.
PLEASE don’t forget about the many millions of viewers that have been loyal to these shows since their inception and the mature viewers that are sooo thankful to have great shows to watch.
