After four episodes (and some big declines in the ratings), ABC has ordered nine additional installments of the new American Housewife TV show. This brings the first season’s tally to 22 episodes.

ABC GIVES FULL-SEASON ORDER TO ‘AMERICAN HOUSEWIFE,’ NEW ABC STUDIOS COMEDY
“American Housewife,” the critically acclaimed new Tuesday night comedy starring Katy Mixon, has been given a full-season pickup. Channing Dungey, president, ABC Television Network, announced today. Nine additional episodes of the ABC Studios-produced series have been ordered.
Tuesday’s No. 1 comedy this season in Total Viewers (7.7 million) and Adults 18-49 (2.4/8), ABC’s “American Housewife” builds on its young-adult lead-in at 8:30 p.m. by 14% on average to rank a competitive No. 2 in its half-hour to NBC’s “The Voice.” The new ABC comedy is improving its time period year to year by 2.1 million viewers and by 9% in Adults 18-49.
“American Housewife” stars Katy Mixon as Katie Otto, Diedrich Bader as Greg Otto, Meg Donnelly as Taylor, Daniel DiMaggio as Oliver, Julia Butters as Anna-Kat, Carly Hughes as Angela and Ali Wong as Doris.
“American Housewife” is written by Sarah Dunn (“Spin City,” “Bunheads”) and produced by ABC Studios. Sarah Dunn, Aaron Kaplan, Rick Wiener and Kenny Schwartz are executive producers.

I love this show and I surely hope it’s renewed! I can see though that a feminist would not like it as Katie at times bows down to Greg in some instances but most of the time she gets her way which in REAL LIFE is what it’s all about….Please renew this show as it is the real world of middle class suburban family…

I didn’t know I could hated a show so much. Perhaps, incredibly, even more embarrassing than Katie Otto’s, the main character’s, obsession with her weight, her general selfishness, rigidity, bossiness and, at times, meaness, is the overacting of the character, as well as that of the overacted character of her son – a shameless Alex P. Keaton rip off. Although nearly 50 years old, I truthfully have trouble referencing worse offerenders than they.
