It’s the end of the world as we know it. Sky has cancelled the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV series after its first season. The British-American sitcom airs on NBC, stateside.
Season one ends after the meteor hits earth. The survivors, played by stars including Mathew Baynton, Pauline Quirke, Diana Rigg, and Joel Fry, are ensconced in an underground bunker. Baynton was ready to tell the post-apocalyptic story, but Sky is letting the first and only season stand on its own.
Radio Times reports that Sky has decided against a second season of the show, for the narrative’s sake, which is rather refreshing. Here are the details:
“A story with the end of the world at its heart was always going to be hard to bring back and has reached its natural conclusion,” the broadcaster told RadioTimes.com.
“The news that a comet was on a unavoidable collision course towards earth triggered a joyous, fun, 34 day dramatic countdown to the end of the world in You, Me and the Apocalypse. Our cast of characters did things they never believed they would do and gave us a show that was loved by critics and the audience alike.
“We thank the entire creative team, cast and everyone working at Working Title Television and NBCUniversal International Studios”.
What do you think? Do you wish the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV show had been renewed for a second season, or do you think Sky did the right thing? Let us know. (I feel fine.)
Oh sure!!! Cancel one of the best series in a long time!! Way to go, I hate it when they make good shows with substance….
There needs to be a season 2. So many unanswered questions, who’s in the box? Who killed jude? Is jaime really the second coming? Does he survive?
I loved the show, and would have preferred that they had just called it a one-time miniseries, but I’m okay with this decision. New episodes would have probably been disappointing – not enough drama to keep it going.
Their needs to be a second season you can’t just leave us in the dark, what happens to everyone, is Jamie saved? Why is it that every time a good show comes around someone has to screw it up, I really liked this show.
There needs to be a Season 2! What happens to everyone in the bunker? What happens to Jamie? It would have been ok if the Comet hit and there were no survivors, but that is not how it ended!
You have got to be kidding me!?!!! No season 2!!! What the hell?!!! $*#@&%!* What about Jamie!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At the very least, post the “alternate ending” — which was surely produced — showing the proper comeuppance for Ariel as Jamie enters into a post-apocalyptic world with his loved ones (and probably factors in on his grandmother’s demise)
Bring it back! Bring it back! Bring it back! Bring it back! WHERE CAN WE SIGN A PETITION FOR SEASON 2?!!!! Bring it back! Bring it back! Bring it back!Bring it back! Bring it back! Bring it back!Bring it back! Bring it back! Bring it back!Bring it back! Bring it back! Bring it back!Bring it back! Bring it back! Bring it back!Bring it back! Bring it back! I want to see more…
I loved that show and can’t believe they ended it like that. So many cliff hangers that were meant for season 2 but now it can’t be. At least do an episode or 2 to show what happened in the bunker. If this network won’t do it find someone who will.
Of course it should be renewed. I feel betrayed. There is so much story available to tell and it was totally set up to continue. Unfair to the audience.
I just came online to look-up when Season 2 begins & found out it was cancelled WHAT!?! NoooOoooooOoooooooooo
My boyfriend & I LOVE This Show…in fact, it’s one of the few shows that actually keeps our attention, where we sit & watch, as opposed to having on in the background while multitasking. I really hope The Powers That Be reconsider & produce a 2nd season…there’s WAY Too Many cliffhangers not to!?!?!
PLEASE BRING You Me & The Apocalypse BACK!
They need to bring it back! My husband, daughter & I just binge watched the series. We need more! Too many unanswered questions.
That’s crazy!! To cancel a show with so many cliffhangers!! The lady in the box? Jamie outside…will he get in the other door locked by grandma’s lackey? Why does grandma need blood anyway? Plus, so many more unanswered questions…! NBC, you wonder why you can’t get decent ratings?! If you were gonna leave it at one season, then don’t leave so many loose ends!! You’re off my watch list NBC…no matter how good a program is, I’m finished with you. You just tease and ultimately disappoint!!
Please somebody give a green light to Season 2–the ending left too many loose ends and I love the characters (even the hateful ones).
