It’s the end of the world as we know it. Sky has cancelled the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV series after its first season. The British-American sitcom airs on NBC, stateside.
Season one ends after the meteor hits earth. The survivors, played by stars including Mathew Baynton, Pauline Quirke, Diana Rigg, and Joel Fry, are ensconced in an underground bunker. Baynton was ready to tell the post-apocalyptic story, but Sky is letting the first and only season stand on its own.
Radio Times reports that Sky has decided against a second season of the show, for the narrative’s sake, which is rather refreshing. Here are the details:
“A story with the end of the world at its heart was always going to be hard to bring back and has reached its natural conclusion,” the broadcaster told RadioTimes.com.
“The news that a comet was on a unavoidable collision course towards earth triggered a joyous, fun, 34 day dramatic countdown to the end of the world in You, Me and the Apocalypse. Our cast of characters did things they never believed they would do and gave us a show that was loved by critics and the audience alike.
“We thank the entire creative team, cast and everyone working at Working Title Television and NBCUniversal International Studios”.
What do you think? Do you wish the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV show had been renewed for a second season, or do you think Sky did the right thing? Let us know. (I feel fine.)
No. Utterly terrible. The entire show was built around the premise that the primary characters would survive in the bunker, which they made it to. We’re told Jamie is the son of God, and he parts the Thames. The fact that he got stranded outside the bunker sets up his resurrection. Spike got the metal through his hands, and was left with the stigmata. The mother had people in boxes in the bunker, why? I’d be fine with this being a one season show if they’d given it some finality, but they purposely set it up for a continuation, then… Read more »
I think there should be a few more episodes of them in the bunker and somehow Jaime ends up finding his way in and defeats ariel and is seen as the new messiah the preist was looking for, I really want to see what happens between the rest of the people in the bunker, too many things are left unsaid and undone, then when u close some of the gaps in the storyline, you can end it. I want to know how it will end up between scotty and his boyfriend, what happens to LeAnn, if the newlyweds ever consumate… Read more »

Noooo….please reconsider!! Such a great cast and unique storyline with unexpected twists
The one great show nbc has cancels of course, there is such a great story with great cast. What a disappointment!!!!! Get it together nbc
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!
This is outrageous! How could they put together such a wonderful addictive show with so many questions (who is in the crate?), etc, then not renew it?!!!!! This feels like Firefly all over again.
Did you make the show for you or for the public? That’s what you have to ask yourselves. There is SO MUCH MATERIAL for a season 2 in the bunker. Whether or not they start picking each other off for the sake of the food and water supply, whether or not Scottie makes it,whether they try to actually maintain some sort of society in there, whether someone opens the damn door for Jaime…..and the old hag’s blood treatments- so much they could have done. Don’t let the Good Dad die. Don’t let the bad guy win.
Big TV leaves the viewing public high and dry. Very disappointed.
My husband and I enjoyed the show. Wish they would have renewed.
Hate that they left us on such a cliffhanger such as Jamie or Ariel in the bunker. Too many unanswered questions left open for another season but unresolved. I found this show to be compellingly quirky and watchable. Sorry they let an actual entertaining show go that will probably be replaced with more reality trash.
I am sorry to have this happen. I wondered where the writers were going to take this show. I have to agree that why other ridiculous shows stay on and this has to go is mind boggling to me. Now, what kind of fake reality show will replace it. With You, Me and the Apocalypse the watcher knew it was scripted and the writers had to be creative in their plot and characters….but with the reality tv all that needs to be done is to through in some b & t.
I am extremely disappointed to hear this. I will no longer be watching ANY shows produced by this company ever again. I’ve NEVER been left with so many questions unanswered, and for all that, they should’ve just killed everybody off. This is ridiculous! Whoever is responsible for this, thanks for wasting my time, and leaving me angry.
Seriously! Every single time a good show comes they cancel it and yet stupid shows continue. There needs to be another season to answer questions
You are right.Trash shows has 10series and one good has 1….whats wrong with peoples?
Absolutely would like more. This show is wonderfully quirky…..please ……more
