It’s the end of the world as we know it. Sky has cancelled the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV series after its first season. The British-American sitcom airs on NBC, stateside.
Season one ends after the meteor hits earth. The survivors, played by stars including Mathew Baynton, Pauline Quirke, Diana Rigg, and Joel Fry, are ensconced in an underground bunker. Baynton was ready to tell the post-apocalyptic story, but Sky is letting the first and only season stand on its own.
Radio Times reports that Sky has decided against a second season of the show, for the narrative’s sake, which is rather refreshing. Here are the details:
“A story with the end of the world at its heart was always going to be hard to bring back and has reached its natural conclusion,” the broadcaster told RadioTimes.com.
“The news that a comet was on a unavoidable collision course towards earth triggered a joyous, fun, 34 day dramatic countdown to the end of the world in You, Me and the Apocalypse. Our cast of characters did things they never believed they would do and gave us a show that was loved by critics and the audience alike.
“We thank the entire creative team, cast and everyone working at Working Title Television and NBCUniversal International Studios”.
What do you think? Do you wish the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV show had been renewed for a second season, or do you think Sky did the right thing? Let us know. (I feel fine.)
This is the first time I’ve ever commented on something like this, but I was told this show was cancelled and I thought it was a joke.. So sad to see this isn’t a joke. How could you possibly cancel this??? Great creative writing, compelling storyline, (couldn’t wait for each new episode and didn’t want it to end when I was watching it), phenomenal acting.. Everything a good series should entail. After investing all my time in this and cancelling it so abruptly without even a second season has led me want to CANCEL my future viewing of anything on… Read more »
Seriously loved this show and I’m so bummed it won’t be back. Great story, really great acting and so many people who were acting against type.
Great series. Please continue programming.
Dear Netfix , Amazon , Hulu , If the suits at NBC decide to be stupid , please pick this up . You’ll be glad you did … and you’ll take even more market share from them .
Dear NBC , One word : Firefly
Dear NBC , one word : Firefly ( Boy , was that a big mistake by FOX )
This is why I’m starting to boycott NBC. Fans get too emotionally involved with a great series then NBC ruins it by prematurely cancelling some of their greatest shows. NBC is something to stay away from.
This is exactly how I feel about ABC. Nothing is given a chance!
Bring it back…..great cast, well acted, love the plot. it had it all for me and my family
I hate investing time and emotions in a great series only to be cut off at the knees. Why bother watching any network series.
YES PLS PLS BRING IT BACK!!!!
Bring it back. To many questions left unanswered inside and outside the bunker.
Hey, The anit=chirst is locked in with them. He can do stuff also.
Who is in the crate? Yes we need a second season! What about the baby.
Sky dud a really good job.Not tne of the world if people live. So how are they going to live. The anti-Chirst going to do something? Who where the legs? That helped the anti-Chirst? What about the Vatican?
I would like another season. The ending was worse then the Sopranos. So many bad guys and few hero’s left.
WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA WHO IS IN THE BOX
Please don’t cancel the show. I need to know if Jaime makes it in; who was in the box; why grandma needs the family around. The son of God can’t perish!!!!
