It’s the end of the world as we know it. Sky has cancelled the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV series after its first season. The British-American sitcom airs on NBC, stateside.
Season one ends after the meteor hits earth. The survivors, played by stars including Mathew Baynton, Pauline Quirke, Diana Rigg, and Joel Fry, are ensconced in an underground bunker. Baynton was ready to tell the post-apocalyptic story, but Sky is letting the first and only season stand on its own.
Radio Times reports that Sky has decided against a second season of the show, for the narrative’s sake, which is rather refreshing. Here are the details:
“A story with the end of the world at its heart was always going to be hard to bring back and has reached its natural conclusion,” the broadcaster told RadioTimes.com.
“The news that a comet was on a unavoidable collision course towards earth triggered a joyous, fun, 34 day dramatic countdown to the end of the world in You, Me and the Apocalypse. Our cast of characters did things they never believed they would do and gave us a show that was loved by critics and the audience alike.
“We thank the entire creative team, cast and everyone working at Working Title Television and NBCUniversal International Studios”.
What do you think? Do you wish the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV show had been renewed for a second season, or do you think Sky did the right thing? Let us know. (I feel fine.)
Devastated that they are not having a 2nd season! There is so much comedic fodder just in the bunker with the survivors. And if Jamie is truly the son of God, he has to survive and lead some survivors on the outside (surely there are a handful). It could be a great experiment to have comedy on the inside and drama on the outside.
Loved this show! Need answers in season 2!
So sad to hear this! I LOVE this show and want to see what’s coming next. I do hope they reconsider.
So sad! One of the best shows I’ve watched in years! Clever and original- each episode left me wanting more! I want to know what happens next!
loved the originality of the series, it was hilarious, suspenseful and thoughtful. I loved all the characters and how they were all intertwined,
I am so sad and disappointed that it is over, I would love it if they would reconsider and do a season 2.
It has been said and I will repeat: Finally a smart, creative, entertaining show and we can’t get the additional seasons. There is a host of unresolved story lines and you aren’t going there? Shame on your for being ok with a great start, and what I think, afraid to accept the challenge to keep up the high standard of smart, creative writing. Your response as to why only one season is a copy out.
My family loves this show. Devastated another great show won’t be returning. Please reconsider, NBC and Sky1.
I absolutely LOVED this show and looked forward to every episode. I am so disappointed there won’t be a second season. Great story line, suspense, and cast. Bring it back!!!!
Who was on the box? Killing me that there is so many things unanswered!
Very unhappy they are not continuing with this awesome show. They left so many things unanswered. Please someone else pick it up!!!!!
My husband & I had our DVR set to record every episode. My husband, and I really felt this series was very different from anything else on tv. It was written very well, and we were never bored watching it. Every episode was better than the previous one. Very witty, moving. Just a fresh new way to look at life. We were so hooked! It was not nearly advertised enough! I fell it is unfair to leave everyone watching it. Hanging like like it did. If NBC, or Sky won’t renew it. Is there anyway another network could take it?… Read more »
I’m disappointed it’s not getting at least one more season. The show was creative, well-acted and they had an infinite number of good plots left.
Yes I would watch season 2. Hopefully they will reconsider!!!
It should be brought back, one of the most innovative shows on television.
Of course it was cancelled. A creative, inventive, fun story with great actors why do the viewers
Deserve a show like that! I’m very dissapointed with network tv.
