It’s the end of the world as we know it. Sky has cancelled the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV series after its first season. The British-American sitcom airs on NBC, stateside.
Season one ends after the meteor hits earth. The survivors, played by stars including Mathew Baynton, Pauline Quirke, Diana Rigg, and Joel Fry, are ensconced in an underground bunker. Baynton was ready to tell the post-apocalyptic story, but Sky is letting the first and only season stand on its own.
Radio Times reports that Sky has decided against a second season of the show, for the narrative’s sake, which is rather refreshing. Here are the details:
“A story with the end of the world at its heart was always going to be hard to bring back and has reached its natural conclusion,” the broadcaster told RadioTimes.com.
“The news that a comet was on a unavoidable collision course towards earth triggered a joyous, fun, 34 day dramatic countdown to the end of the world in You, Me and the Apocalypse. Our cast of characters did things they never believed they would do and gave us a show that was loved by critics and the audience alike.
“We thank the entire creative team, cast and everyone working at Working Title Television and NBCUniversal International Studios”.
What do you think? Do you wish the You, Me and the Apocalypse TV show had been renewed for a second season, or do you think Sky did the right thing? Let us know. (I feel fine.)
I would have really loved a second season of this show. It’s the mix of funny, touching, mysterious, and tense that makes good entertainment that the whole family can enjoy. I could see the plot going in many different directions. I mean since when does the end of the world have to be the end of the story? There’s still people alive so let’s keep the show going! Get Jamie to crawl in a manhole cover or something, there’s gotta be a well placed tunnel going into the bunker right? Right! Ok. Season 2. Make it happen. That is all.
The story is not over yet. There needs to be a season 2 or more episodes.
Kept wondering how they would continue this series. After seeing the season finale, I can see the possibilities. So sorry it’s been cancelled. Loved it!
I am very very disappointed this show is not going to have a 2nd season. I loved this show!!!
i am very disappointed that the 2nd season is not going to happen 🙁 I loved this show.
Wanted to know when season 2 would begin and was sad to learn no season 2. Why do the networks end all the good quirky shows? Hope you’ll change your mind and give us season 2.
My wife and I would love to see a second season and how could you have the evil twin win. I am a twin and good always wins. We want to see another season.
Please bring back for a second season. So many unanswered questions. Don’t leave us all hanging NBC. You’ve already done that with so many shows I’ve enjoyed.
I am beyond disappointed. I get if you don’t renew, but at least do some follow up, the unanswered questions! I continued to watch even though you killed off Father Jude, but only because I knew the story would continue and pan out for Jamie. And WHO is in the box!
I wouldn’t feel too badly about no season two, but I don’t like the idea of Ariel being the one who was saved in the bunker. He most certainly didn’t deserve to live through the apocalypse.
WHAT THE HECK NO SECOND SEASON THERE HAS TO BE AND WHOEVER SAID THAT THIS SHOW DOESNT DESERVE A SECOND SEASON IS WRRROOOOONNNGGGG!!! This show is hilarious! And great and a good show for the whole family !! IF THIS SHOW DOESNT HAVE A 2nd WE WILL ALL DIE WITH JAMIE !!! LET JAMIE LIVE LET YMAYA LIVE TO SEE ANOTHER DAY! SKY PLS BRING US ANOTHER SEASON!!
Please please please bring the show
Back!!!!! Season 2-we’re waiting…..
I just wanted to know when the next season was going to start..so, I googled..and now am distraught..firefly and now this. Rob Lowe did not kill himself. What is in the box.. Who is the antichrist, and, the nun is pregnant with?
Loved this show so much!! It’s true that it could be hard to create a story after the end of the world, but it also could be an opportunity for a truly creative twist. Maybe it was all a big hoax after all. It would’ve be just fine to end it like that if Jamie was the one who stayed in the bunker. But after all that he’s been through (and due to the fact that he was allegedly the son of God) he didn’t deserve to end up like that, lying in the mud outside the bunker. If there’s… Read more »
I thought this show was great! I always looked forward on thursday night to watch. I like dry dark humor. I hope you can bring it back.
