What’s This TV Show About?
Airing on the National Geographic cable channel, Barkskins is based on the novel of the same name by Annie Proulx. The show stars David Thewlis, Marcia Gay Harden, Aneurin Barnard, James Bloor, Christian Cooke, David Wilmot, Thomas M. Wright, Tallulah Haddon, Kaniehtiio (Tiio) Horn, Lily Sullivan, and Zahn McClarnon. The series examines the mysterious massacre of settlers in the vast and unforgiving wilds of 1690s New France. This event threatens to throw the region into all-out war. Likely suspects abound – the English, the Hudson’s Bay Company and a band of Kanien’kehá:ka (Iroquois) possibly in league with the English looking to drive the French from the territory. But, who or what brought these settlers to such a tragic end?

Telly’s Take
Will National Geographic cancel or renew Barkskins for season two? The ratings have been okay but, the channel doesn’t air many original scripted series so it’s difficult to know what they consider to be a success. The series’ creator wants to make a second season so, we’ll have to wait and see if Nat Geo agrees. I’ll update this page with breaking developments. What do you think? Do you think that the Barkskins TV show should be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
Loved Barkskins. I hope they make a second season.
There’s got to be a second season! I love this show!
How can they not have a second season? The ending was stupid and unresolved. Everything is still up in the air. Hamish is shot and dying in the woods. Mathilde and Renardette were last seen fleeing the Iroquois. The town of Wobik is being attacked. Trepagnay was supposedly poisoned by his lover, Mari, then taken to his “sky table” by Rene but then in the very last scene, he revives. What kind of an ending is that?????????
Yes. Please.
Yes it should have a 2nd season.
Oh my, yes it definitely needs a second season. Too many unanswered questions.
We loved this series. The best show on TV. Please bring it back.
Barkskins…awesome…must b S2…..
One of the better series on TV and yet they cancelled it? Was not advertised enough to draw interest – we happened on it by accident. I would like to see the whole series, especially since we completed season 1.
Barkskins is a thrilling adventure series. Marsha Gay Harden is wonderful as is everyone in the large cast. Happy to see Native Americans getting a real share of the story lines.
We need additional seasons of Barkskins! I love the cast and storylines.
Please finish the story! There were too many unfinished stories left dangling! Love the show!
Please let there be a another season of barkskins.. so many unanswered questions i have. Even if its only 3 more episodes please wrap this show up with a good ending, not like the one you left us with now!!!
Are u joking me!!! Barkskins was really good! To just end it like this is, just as it was starting to get real good, there are so many unanswered questions! Its injustice to all short series!
I personally really enjoyed Barkskins and I do hope for a season 2. How can it be a mini series when episode 8 ended so badly? Maybe that’s why it is a mini series? Probably wasn’t anyone left?
