Fans of Blue Bloods can expect a lot more family dinner scenes at the Reagan household. CBS has just renewed the family police drama for a seventh season which will air as part of the 2016-17 television season.
A staple of Friday nights, Blue Bloods revolves around the Irish-American Reagan family and their work as part of the NYPD. The cast includes Tom Selleck, Donnie Wahlberg, Bridget Moynahan, Will Estes, Len Cariou, Amy Carlson, Sami Gayle, Vanessa Ray, Nicholas Turturro, and Marisa Ramirez.
The 17 episodes that have aired as part of the (current) sixth season have averaged a 1.24 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 10.57 million viewers.
That’s down slightly from last year’s averaged but Blue Bloods continues to do well for the network, especially considering its 10pm on Fridays timeslot. It’s currently CBS’ fourth most-watched scripted series (behind NCIS, The Big Bang Theory, and NCIS: New Orleans).
Today, the network announced 2016-17 season renewals of 10 other shows as well — 2 Broke Girls, The Amazing Race, Elementary, Hawaii Five-0, Madam Secretary, Mom, NCIS: Los Angeles, NCIS: New Orleans, Scorpion, and Survivor.

I love this show it is my most favorite, I hate when it is pre empted. I will also hate when it is canceled we need it as long as ER ran at least. It is much better than Big Bang Theory, which sexual content is just too much. More shows like Blue Bloods, & 7th Heaven & ER
I am 70 years old! Blue Bloods and it story line and family is the best thing I have ever watched. With cable I can watch it for 8 – 10 hours a day between the different channels. I have never loved a show as much as I do this family. The writers really know what they are doing. I think it is a fantastic show and so is Tom !!!!!!
Yes,glad it’s coming back! Like it! I think last season they tried to make the show more gritty! There are plenty gritty and violent police shows out there. Keep the show for what you do best–the character development within the context of a police family

My brother kept insisting I watch-I didn’t want to get pulled into another police drama…I love this show. I binge watch the reruns to catch up! It’s nice to be entertained with a show with realistic but moralistic views with no fear that religious content may not boost ratings…
One of the best series on television. Great stories filled with a strong sense of family, and moral and physical courage. Entertainment at its character-building best. We wouldn’t miss an episode (or a rerun).

Love Blue Bloods, especially the Jamie character and of course Tom. I would love to see more of Jamie and eddie.
Blue Bloods is by far my favorite show, I would be very disappointed
if the show was cancelled. I am looking forward to the next season, and I watch all reruns on ION television and on WGN America, Thanks for renewing it for the 2016/2017 season.

I love Blue Bloods. I am so glad it is returning. I don’t even watch any of the other programs you said are coming back in 2016-2017. I watch reruns on another channel every day.
This show can go for 10 – 11 years if they have the writers to keep up the to trends of the day. If not please end the show on an up note like Third Watch did.
