Jimmy Smits won multiple awards for his work on the LA Law TV series back in the 1990s. Now, he’s back on NBC in another legal drama called Bluff City Law. Will his latest show also be a big success on the peacock network? Will Bluff City Law be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
A legal drama, the Bluff City Law TV series stars Jimmy Smits, Caitlin McGee, Scott Shepherd, Barry Sloane, Michael Luwoye, MaameYaa Boafo, Stony Blyden, and Jayne Atkinson. Coming from a famous Memphis family that’s known for taking on injustice, a brilliant lawyer named Sydney Strait (McGee) used to work at her father Elijah’s celebrated law firm until their tumultuous relationship got in the way. After barely speaking to Elijah (Smits) for years, Sydney is suddenly thrust back into the family fold when her philanthropist mother passes away unexpectedly. In the wake of the loss of his wife and in hopes of reconnecting with the daughter he loves, Elijah asks Sydney to rejoin his Civil Rights firm and take on a chemical company whose product may cause cancer. Despite her lingering resentment and distrust, she agrees because she knows that working alongside her father is her best hope at changing the world — as long as they can find a way to get along. No sooner has Sydney returned than she stumbles on a secret that Elijah has been keeping from her that may change everything.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.

What do you think? Do you like the Bluff City Law TV series on NBC? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
*6/16/20 update: Bluff City Law has been cancelled by NBC so, there won’t be a second season.
NBC should rerun this good show, perhaps since it may be awhile before our so called favorites can resume shooting new episodes, Also rerun the Brave too while your at it, just a thought Like NBC really listens or reads viewers messages
I really liked Bluff City Law. It was great seeing Jimmy Smits back as an attorney. He fit the southern laid-back persona so well. I get so frustrated with the networks being so quick to cancel shows, especially during these times when we are more restricted and spending more time watching TV shows. 10 episodes is hardly enough time to make such a permanent decision. It used to be they would at least try moving a show to a different day/time slot before making a decision to cancel. Also, do the ratings factor in when a show is taped and… Read more »
I loved bluff city law once I found it in July. Please bring it back it really had great potential and I would watch it every week
We are shut off from activities, sports, travel and church. What better time is there to stream Bluff City Law? Rooting for #BluffCityLawSeasonTwo
I’m really getting ready to sign off on network TV channels they don’t give a show a chance I really enjoyed Bluff City law. I liked the characters and the actors and the storylines. Why couldn’t NBC move the show to a different night or different time slot I just don’t understand the point everybody and Company expects immediate gratification nowadays. I think I’m going to stay with Amazon Prime and Netflix at least I know how many seasons I’ll have of a show to watch there
This was my husband and my favorite show. We recorded it and watched week to week. So very disappointed it got cancelled.
I loved Bluff City show. I don’t understand why they only had 10 episodes. I sure hope it’s picked up for another season or new episodes for spring. It truly doesn’t make any sense to only have ordered 10 episodes. It takes longer for people to spread the word that it’s a good show.
I totally look forward to seeing 2nd season of Bluff City Law. It’s a “clean “ family show that we all can relate to. Would be heartbroken if it’s cancelled.
I enjoy watching Bluff City Law #bluffcitylawseason2
