Jimmy Smits won multiple awards for his work on the LA Law TV series back in the 1990s. Now, he’s back on NBC in another legal drama called Bluff City Law. Will his latest show also be a big success on the peacock network? Will Bluff City Law be cancelled or renewed for season two? Stay tuned. *Status update below.
A legal drama, the Bluff City Law TV series stars Jimmy Smits, Caitlin McGee, Scott Shepherd, Barry Sloane, Michael Luwoye, MaameYaa Boafo, Stony Blyden, and Jayne Atkinson. Coming from a famous Memphis family that’s known for taking on injustice, a brilliant lawyer named Sydney Strait (McGee) used to work at her father Elijah’s celebrated law firm until their tumultuous relationship got in the way. After barely speaking to Elijah (Smits) for years, Sydney is suddenly thrust back into the family fold when her philanthropist mother passes away unexpectedly. In the wake of the loss of his wife and in hopes of reconnecting with the daughter he loves, Elijah asks Sydney to rejoin his Civil Rights firm and take on a chemical company whose product may cause cancer. Despite her lingering resentment and distrust, she agrees because she knows that working alongside her father is her best hope at changing the world — as long as they can find a way to get along. No sooner has Sydney returned than she stumbles on a secret that Elijah has been keeping from her that may change everything.
The ratings are typically the best indication of a show’s likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly in the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available — usually the next day, around 11:30am EST/8:30am PST. Refresh to see the latest.
11/26 update: You can see the latest night’s ratings in context.

Note: These are the final national numbers (unless noted with an “*”). These are different from the fast affiliate numbers which are just estimates of the actual ratings. The final nationals are typically released within 24 hours of the programming or, in the case of weekends and holidays, a couple days later.
What do you think? Do you like the Bluff City Law TV series on NBC? Should it be cancelled or renewed for a second season?
*6/16/20 update: Bluff City Law has been cancelled by NBC so, there won’t be a second season.
David Barca. This is the best new show on tv this fall! It needs more time and or another time slot. I told a friend about and he started watching on demand and he feels the same way. This show is in need of another opportunity.
Bluff City Law is my favorite show. It has all the elements of excellence. We really hope to see more episodes.
My wife and I love this show and looked forward to it each week. The show got stronger with each episode so please don’t cancel Bluff City Law. It’s the best new series to come along in years. Love the cast … love the show!!!!!!!!
My favorite show! Please keep on the air
Send a email to NBC.com! From what I’ve read elsewhere, they take emails seriously. Love this show. Look forward to it every Monday. And it’s been getting so much better with each episode. I’ve been watching it on On Demand like crazy. NBC is watching the On Demand numbers, as well as streaming.
YES….YES…YES! Please continue this show…it keeps getting better and already there are too many shows not fit fir family watching…it is really good!
Great show. Seems when like when you find a good series someone wants to play the numbers game. Its a great family base series. There cast is great and good story lines. Give it a chance. Maybe different days.
Love this show! Great plots, multiple plot lines in each show. Actors are excellent! Why mess with something that is fresh, interesting and worth watching? KEEP THIS SHOW!
My family and I watch Bluff City Law and have enjoyed the stories as well as the characters. NBC should really consider keeping this show. It can become a great series.
Love this show please do not cancel the last two weeks of the show I know didn’t get good ratings but your need the Thanksgiving holiday people are busy. I think you pull your shows way to early. You don’t give people enough time to view the show
This show should be renewed. It is far superior to other renewed shows lacking substance.
There is lots of room for growth.
It is in a bad time slot against Bull and The Good Doctor.
There are plenty of time slots to give it more viewers to get a following.
Also, viweres today want cliff hangers which could easily be incorporated.
Just put more critical storylines in. The cast works well. S its is loved.
Give it a proper chance.
I love this show , so many amazing characters with “ good” souls trying to help people and make the world a better place . Please don’t cancel it .
We love this show! Bluff City Law is a great show. It is one of our favorites. We hope you will reconsider and not cancel this show.
