In a somewhat surprising move, the alphabet network has cut a beloved family drama after five seasons on the air. Season six of Brothers & Sisters won’t be on ABC’s fall schedule.
Brothers & Sisters debuted in 2006 and revolves around the extended Walker family of Pasadena, California. The current season features a large ensemble cast that includes Calista Flockhart, Dave Annable, Gilles Marini, Luke Macfarlane, Matthew Rhys, Patricia Wettig, Rachel Griffiths, Ron Rifkin, and Sally Field.
The family drama was nearly cancelled last year but was ultimately renewed for an abbreviated fifth season. In light of some positive ratings, ABC ordered additional episodes, bringing the season total to 22 installments. Unfortunately, those ratings didn’t last.

The numbers slowly declined over the course of the season but really seemed to take a dip in the latter part of the season, just when execs were trying to figure out if it was worth renewing. Rumors started circulating that Brothers & Sisters would be cancelled and then there was word that ABC was considering an abbreviated sixth season to wrap things up.
In the end, network execs decided there just wasn’t enough interest in the show anymore and wanted to use the post-Desperate Housewives timeslot for a new series.
As a result, last Sunday’s season finale will end up being the series finale for Brothers & Sisters. It’s a sad and unfortunate end for a once popular series.

I can not belive you have cancel this show!! Only show I enjoyed at night once a week. so may shows are all the same . this was a family and a very good cast. Had all walks of life in it. Now what!! another singing show.. cop show. reality show. omg.. just can not blieve you have cancel this show…
I am begging you to reconsider. THis is my families favorite show. I talke to my daughters and my mom every week to recap and I will just be so sad and depressed with out my brothers and sisters.Please!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If there is anything we can do to keep Brothers please tell us and we will do it. If you need petitions signed we will do it.
Are you kidding? As more reality low class shows hit the screen, why not take off a show that highlights that families still work. I am so very disappointed.
My mother & i are devestated that b&s was cancelled! We look foward to sunday night every week to watch & talk about it! Its such a great family show…and now tv execs are just going to fill the time slot with some crappy reality show. Ugh! Horrible move abc…:(
I can’t believe this. I’m very disappointed. I loved this series. It has great characters that are very real and the situations that have been dealt with are true family matters.
Why not cancel the realities. They are getting rediculous!

This is the worst move ever by ABC. This is by far the best show ever on. The cast and acting are superb. I have never missed an episode and think this is absolutely ridiculous! Yes I will boycott this network for this stupid move!!!

Brothers and Sisters was my favorite show. I never missed an episode. I am so disappointed that it isn’t going to be around anymore. I swear the best shows are cancelled. I hate all the reality shows that are on now. I really enjoyed this drama.
I am at a loss for words. This by far was my absolute favorite show. As I said I am at a loss for words……….what could the execs be thinking. Switch nights if you have to … it was the highlight of my weekend. I loved the diverse personalities… I loved the complex relationships…..I loved the bond the family had through so many aspects of what life throws at us. I love Brothers and Sisters… its better than any reality tv show! I am very sad and upset!
Way to go ABC. You just lost a viewer one night a week. The only time I ever watch ABC is on Sundays and Wednesdays. After the disappointing season of Desperate Housewives and then no more Brothers and Sisters, I probably will not be watching on Sunday anymore. That leaves Modern Family the only ABC show I will be watching from now on. The least you could do is give us a partial season or a movie to wrap things up after five years. Super disappointed ….. Was it canceled strictly because of ratings or were other factors involved as well? I find it hard to believe ratings alone would be the cause. Please keep this show alive – the acting is well worth it! Much better than the silliness of so-called reality T.V.
This is very disappointing, Brothers and Sisters have been a favorite of mine since the show started. I am so tired of the garbage on TV these days it was nice to see a program that dealt with real life family problems and issues, the Walkers were like my family. I think that Sally Field played a wonderful Nora Walker and I will miss her and the rest of her family……
