Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.

While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

I think hallmark would be smart to produce a two hour special to wrap everything up. I think you’ll find that there are a great deal of people like my wife and I, that found this wonderful show on Netflix If you made your decision simply based on Hallmark viewership that probobly sells this show short. My two cents
No Season 4? Why not? I don’t understand why you would get people so interested in a wonderful, non-violent series, leave a bunch of cliff-hangers, and then just drop the whole series with no explanation. I will continue to watch your weekend movies, but I will never watch or get caught up in another series.
This was a really good series. I was looking forward to the fourth season. Why was it cancelled?? At least do a serirs finale. Really hard to find good shows like this on TV. Definately not a fan of Hallmark Series anymore.
We need closer from season 3…. mini series???
Sorry to hear it ended, really enjoyed it. Would love to see a movie done to conclude the series.
This makes me so sad! I really enjoyed Cedar Cove. I would love to see them bring it back one day!
I agree, at least they could have had some sort of closure for the fans of this show—??
At least have a Hallmark movie to wrap up the loose ends! Why would I invest in another Hallmark series knowing it too may suffer an early demise??
It shouldn’t be up to the producers. It should be up to the viewers, and clearly there are thousands of comments here and still MILLIONS of viewers in favor of continuing the series. What more do you want??? I hope these comments are getting passed on to the key decision makers st #Hallmark. #CedarCove was breathtakingly beautiful and poignant in ALL ways. It provided hope and inspiration in a world desperately needing that right now. Maybe for once it could be about the people, the viewers, the happiness a show brings to the world, rather than the bottom dollar. The… Read more »
I just finished watching the last episode of season three. I will feel lost with out visiting my TV family every night. I had DVR”d the series but just did a marathon viewing on Netflix over the last couple months. I got llost in the scenery and the wholesomeness of this wonderful series. I am deeply saddened it was cancelled. My husband even enjoyed it. Please bring the series back. I loved all the characters and was rooting for Paul to win over Olivia.
I loved the series. So disappointed that it was cancelled. I only just discovered it on Netflix. The stories of the characters should be told and skillfully wrapped up.
I can’t believe it’s been canceled. Most shows will at least give a last season with closures. One of my favorites. I’m totally upset, not much good tv left.
I really enjoyed Cedar Cove. I hate that you are cancelling it. Very disappointed about that. It was a good clean family show and you are going to cancelling it.
I was really looking forward to more episodes as I loved this series! I’m really disappointed that it has been cancelled & will surely miss the characters & the plot.
Should have had a better conclusion. We enjoyed watching it.
I cannot believe this wonderful show has been cancelled. Was waiting patiently for season 4 to see what happens. PLEASE, PLEASE BRING BACK!!!!!
