Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

Hallmark is my favorite station and Cedar Cove one of my favorite shows. It’s so hard to find decent shows on TV that have value, portray good moral values, and that aren’t violent, dark, or disgusting in some way. I think it is unfair to your loyal viewers to drop a show without some kind of conclusion. Too many stations drop shows without a word to viewers after they’ve invested time and emotions in that show. Have a heart Hallmark – don’t be like the others – give us some closure and keep the viewers “in the loop”. Thank you.
What a great show, so sad to hear it’s been canceled. Please bring Cedar Cove back
Yes, i would love to see the series continue. I got caught up in all their lives and wish i knew what was goung to happen with each of the characters
I and my husabnd are so unhappy about Cedar Cove being canncelled. He is 79 and I am 65, This Is one of the few shows we both watched together , and enjoys. We always looked forward to it. Very disappointed,
I am very disappointed that Hallmark cancelled Cedar Cove after 3 seasons. I thought the show was well written and the acting and cast were outstanding. Seems every time a decent show comes on tv the ratings never follow. Sadly, many trashy reality shows seem to thrive. What is happening to society today?
That was a great clean show. My family loved it. Bring it back
I was devastated when I found out there was no season 4. I have been waiting for it to return. It was my favorite show. I love Debbie Macomber’s movies. I think you at least need to wrap up the series. I was hooked on it. Now I am sad.
I loved the show!!! Yes I would most def want it to return!!!
Really upset that CedarCove was cancelled!!! I agree that there should be at least a movie to answer all the questions left with the end of season 3. I also agree regarding watching other series because this could happen to them also. This happened to Longmire on A&E along with The Glades. Both had cliff hangers. Have not watched A&E since.
WELL THAT STINKS !!!!!!!!!!!
I’m an avid Debbie Macomber fan and was delighted when the Cedar Cove books were brought to life on Hallmark. It greatly saddens me to see the show cancelled – particularly without somehow bringing it to a decent conclusion. Hallmark has let down all of the show’s viewers and it makes me VERY leery about beginning to watch another series on their channel. Will they let down their viewers again?
My favorite Hallmark series. The scenery and characters are what made the show. Bring it back!
Definitely bring it back. Can’t believe another good show has been cancelled.
I want more Cedar Cove!! I just finished watching all 3 seasons on Netflix and I love it! A great cast, interesting plots, and good, decent entertainment. Beautiful scenery adds a lot. More! More! More!
I’m very disappointed that you’ve done away with yet another show on the Hallmark Channel. Its true that one was moved to Hallmark Movies & Mysteries, but if I didn’t get that channel, I never would get to see it. That show would be Signed, Sealed, Delivered with Eric Mabeus and Kristen Booth. Now I see that you’ve cancelled Cedar Cove. What is wrong with you people? You keep the stupid shows that you keep playing over and over like The Golden Girls, Murder She Wrote, etc, but get rid of the great original programming that’s good for the family… Read more »
Great point!
