Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

We need closure, if not season, a movie.
I just realized that Cedar Cove wasn’t on this summer. So disappointed to hear Hallmark cancelled it. As tv goes these days, ratings may have bpnot been up to their standards but the show was so worthwhile watching and I loved the scenery, the characters, storyline and will miss it. Looked forward to it all the time and even recorded it so I would never miss an episode. Ha mark, you mad a mistake. This was such a wonderful series to watch and see it evolve. I so enjoyed talking about it with friends who enjoyed watching it as well.
There have been to many shows just ending without conclusions. It makes me not want to watch up coming shows because they might just end without notice or conclusions
I am disappointed that cedar cove will not be returning for more seasons. It was one of the few shows that I really enjoyed.
Please do a Cedar Cove movie to give us some closure!
I also loved this show, and my Mom and I loved to watch it together. To end it on such a note is a huge disappointment. If the show can’t be continued, I second the motion that maybe the story could at least have a nice conclusion in a movie!!
I was looking forward to this year’s episodes, and am very disappointed that it isn’t coming back. I loved the characters and their actors.
I loved this show and was very disappointed with the ending. Closure would be greatly appreciated with a season 4 and if not that, then perhaps a movie!!
I loved this show and was so disappointed to find out it had been canceled. I for one, had become so invested in each of their lives and not having closure in a scripted final episode was unfair to the fans of Cedar Cove.
Really? I love this show and want to know what happened. Maybe a movie?
I think the stories should have had closure. The charactors came to be like family.
Please write a Season 4. Don’t leave us hanging. We have fallen in love with this show and the characters.
Nooo, to many unanswered questions, really not fair to the viewers. Totally disappointed
I agree, there are no GOOD tv shows anymore. I’m really sad to see this go, please sell to Netflix so they can pick it up. Not all of us are able to afford to get cable with the hallmark channel and I waited for netflix to get it every season to binge. sad….
I was so disappointed to hear that Cedar Cove will not be continuing on Hallmark channel. Debbie Macomber is my go to author and Hallmark has been my go to station when I want to kick back and relax. I love watching a family oriented program that I can get to know the characters and feel like they are friends. I really hope Hallmark changes their minds and brings it back. Maybe the ratings did fall some but family is what it is all about and who better to bring them together. Can’t tell you how much I miss seeing… Read more »
