Fans won’t be seeing what happens to Olivia Lockhart in a fourth season of Cedar Cove. Hallmark Channel has cancelled their first scripted TV show after three seasons and 36 episodes.
Cedar Cove revolves around Olive (Andie MacDowell), a single mother from a small seaside community who’s also a municipal court judge. Olivia does her best to balance her career with family and finding love — all the while doing her best to care for the township she calls home. The rest of the cast includes Dylan Neal, Teryl Rothery, Sarah Smyth, Colin Ferguson, Bruce Boxleitner, Barbara Niven, Brennan Elliot, Corey Sevier, Sebastian Spence, Tom Stevens, Jesse Hutch, Jesse Moss, Emily Tennant, and Timothy Webber.
Hallmark’s first scripted TV series debuted in July 2013 to 2.62 million viewers. Though the TV show lasted three seasons, the ratings dropped each year. The first season of Cedar Cove averaged about two million viewers. The second season averaged 1.87 million and the third season averaged 1.67 million.
The cable channel announced the cancellation on their Facebook page. Here’s the statement:
Cedar Cove was the first series launched on Hallmark Channel, and we are incredibly proud of the exquisitely beautiful three season arc it delivered. It was an honor to bring to life the kindness, consideration and courage of this story that Debbie Macomber envisioned. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the extraordinary cast, writers, artists and designers — especially Andie MacDowell, executive producer and show runner Sue Tenney, and of course, Debbie Macomber. It is a privilege to continue a creative working relationship with the incredible talents associated with this series — both in front of and behind the camera – for upcoming projects on Hallmark Channel USA and Hallmark Movies & Mysteries.
That was followed up by:
While Cedar Cove won’t be returning for Season 4, our beloved #CedarCove cast are all still part of the family! You’ll see Andie MacDowell produce & star in “The Beach House” based on the novel by Mary Alice Monroe. “Debbie Macomber’s Dashing Through the Snow” premieres 12/12 on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. You’ll see Barbara Niven star with Alison Sweeney in the next installment of #MurderSheBaked: A Plum Pudding Mystery” premiering 11/22 also on Hallmark Movies & Mysteries. And you’ll see Brennan Elliott star with Mariah Carey & Lacey Chabert in the premiere of #AChristmasMelody Dec 19th on Hallmark Channel USA!
The last episode of Cedar Cove aired on September 26th and ended with lots of unanswered questions.
What do you think? Do you like the Cedar Cove TV show? Do you think that it should have been cancelled or renewed for a fourth season? Would you like to see the characters return someday?

I really enjoyed Cedar Cove and other shows like When Calls the Heart and Signed Sealed and Delivered. There are so few really good shows on these days it is a shame you play Murder She Wrote and some others in reruns endlessly! I sure wish you would keep these new ones!
Absolutely disappointed! There are so few nice drama series on television anymore. Please stop cancelling the fantastic ones! This was a highlight of each summer! Please bring it back hallmark .
Highlight of mine too! :'(
I am so disappointed. I have watched all three season and was addicted to it but then found out it was cancelled!!! Who cancels a show on a big ending and leaves the audience hanging. Please reconsider. This is not right Hallmark!!!
i really enjoyed the show and was sorry it ended. I think there were a lot of relationships there were left hanging and evolving. Hallmark, please bring back the show for one more season.
i am really disappointed that it was cancelled. this was really a good show. the numbers tuning in on the hallmark channel might have been down, but i could only watch it if i bought the season on amazon. just wondering if those numbers and the numbers from other sources were taken into account.
Really would like to see season 4 of this show. I really enjoyed it.
Does the viewer numbers include streaming and or DVD? Though the on air numbers maybe down I bet there are plenty like myself that discovered it via Netflix and was looking forward to the story continuing.
I am SO BUMMED that they are cancelling Cedar Cover! I look forward to each new season! So SO SAD!!!!
Absolutely loved this show and was looking forward to the new season.
I loved this show! I was so disappointed to see it cancelled especially with so many unanswered questions. No fair!!! Loyal fans need some closure, please.
Need to continue this series. Hate not having a conclusion to the story.
I’m heartbroken. I wish I’d known that it was going to end like this before I got invested. That cliffhanger! How could they?! I do hope they give us a movie to conclude the series. It’s needed. I was so rooting for Paul and I’m just left hanging. Ugh!
What a huge disappointment to learn, just as I began watching seasons 1-3, that the show was cancelled. I’ve been watching on Netflix just recently and have become a fan of the show. There are so few shows that I really enjoy watching. If Hallmark is not going to continue this wonderful series, I too hope that they will create a movie so that there is closure. Otherwise, what a let down to know that when I watch the final episode of season 3, that is all there is.
Please bring it back!!!!!
I am also so so disappointed. The series dealt with a lot of issues that are challenges in real life like alcoholism, corporate takeover, and the dilemma of finding love again after divorce. The acting was superb and this makes me question those in power who chose to cancel this drama vs. running countless re-runs of other shows (although all good sitcoms). Furthermore, there is no closure for the audience in knowing some sort of outcome for the characters!!
please bring it back!!!
