A day before the network’s official upfront presentation for advertisers, CBS has cancelled Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior. The spin-off will end after just one season.
Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior follows a highly-trained team of agents who operate within the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU). They use unique and hard-hitting tactics to bring down some of the country’s most dangerous felons. The TV series stars Forest Whitaker, Janeane Garofalo, Michael Kelly, Beau Garrett, Matt Ryan, and Kirsten Vangsness.
While spin-off NCIS: Los Angeles got off to an immediate great start back in 2009, the same can’t be said for CBS’ latest spin-off, Suspect Behavior. In February, it debuted to a 3.3 rating in the all-important 18-49 demographic and 13.06 million viewers. That was a solid start but then the second episode dropped 27% to a 2.4 rating and 9.8 million. By the fourth episode, it had fallen to a 2.2 demo rating.

The ratings have gone up and down a bit over the course of the season but has gone as low as a 2.1 in the demo a couple times. It currently averages a 2.4 rating and 9.84 million viewers, more than a whole point below its lead-in and parent series, Criminal Minds. Those numbers put it squarely on the bubble for renewal.
There was talk about bringing Suspect Behavior back for another round, possibly after doing a revamp, but the network’s decided against it. They likely have other procedurals waiting in the wings that believe can do better so CBS has cancelled Suspect Behavior after one season.
A baker’s dozen of episodes have been produced and so far, 11 of them have aired. The remaining two are expected to run tomorrow and next Wednesday night, May 25th, as previously scheduled.
The series finale is called “Death by a Thousand Cuts” and finds the team tracking a serial killer who randomly shoots people in crowded areas.
What do you think? Are you sorry that Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior won’t be back for a second season? Why do you think this one didn’t catch on?

ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!!! YOU END THE SEASON AS A “TO BE CONTINUED” AND YOUR NOT EVEN GONNA CONTINUE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! REALLY?!?!?!?!?!?! I wanna know what happens to Beth.
I only found out about this show recently from Netflix (Feb. 2012). I would have to say that if failed because it was not publicized enough. I never even heard of it. It’s a GREAT show and it should be brought back but publicize more
BRING IT BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I MUST SEE WHAT HAPPENS TO BETH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have to agree with Krystal on this. I am only on episode one, but my god, it’s utterly dreadful. I hope it gets better than this, for the sake of me wasting 44 minutes of my time. The team were good in the episode they did in Criminal Minds, and I was briefly excited when I saw the team line up, but for a start the scripting is utterly appalling. Very unbelievable, very unrealistic. In my honest opinion, CBS have finally made a good decision, stopping something before it went too far.
Glad this show didn’t last who ever made Forest the lead actor should be fired the guy can’t act no wonder it sucked.
I can not believe they ended Season One of Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior the way they did if they were not going to have a Season Two! WHO DOES THAT!!!! Now we are left to wonder who got shot and what happened! Did they find the agent and kill the man that was holding her captive? What happened?? Why can’t they make one more show just to finish it? Very very disappointed!!
awsome show, it should be continued
I think it’s stupid to cancel a show that actually has talent. I would rather watch Suspect Behavior than those stupid “reality bachelor/bachelorette” shows that get aired! Reality tv shows are the most brain dead “entertainment” that gets aired. I say bring back Suspect Behavior and get rid of the staged, mouthy, fighting, dramatic reality bits! Based on the votes posted, 3/4 of the viewers say yes! That’s majority when you look at it! The other 1/4 are into the brain dead shows that require little to know attention span thinking.
BRING IT BACK!!!!
please and more please Bring it Back !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please
HOW IN THE WORLD CAN YOU END A SEASON WITH A CUT-OFF OF AN EPISODE & THEN NOT MAKE A 2ND SEASON! That’s RIDICULOUS! Bring it back!!! Ahhhh….. for the love of god!
I can’t believe this show was cancelled, I don’t watch tv that often but found season one on Netflix- all the great ones end up cancelled and all the crappy ones go on forever, this makes no sense to me! Bring this show back!
You did not allow viewers a chance to get to know the show. In this day and age viewers don’t have to watch shows when they air. They can choose to record or watch them according to their personal schedules. If making money on commercials determine if a show continues, it does not work for me. I only watch commercials on hulu anyway because they are timed. There is no loyalty in tv and I quickly learn not to rely on it for my entertainment.
I find it rather sad that shows with excellent acting and great acting get cut. Bring it back. Sometimes relying on a little black box in someones home is not evidence enough to prove quality of a show.
BRING IT BACK! It was a very good show, I really enjoyed season 1.
I recently wached the season on netflix my husband and i loved it, i has been waiting for season 2,I quess when it originally aired my tv’s were scheduled to DVR something else, I think they sould find a better night for the show to air.
